Be Careful

Allyn Rothman, Amazon
31 March 2005
  • Summary: A very nice and compact scanner, IF it can work with your computer. The instructions hint at a problem by warning against connecting its USB-2 cable (through which it gets its power) via a hub. Their phone support is good, but two hours of walk-throughs did not get the thing to work.

  • Summary: I put 3 stars because customer service was very nice and he gave a very great service for 2 hours, although they still couldn't solve the problem. What they told me is this CanoScan LIDE 35 is not compatible with Windows XP... And I cannot do anything with this scanner..

LiDE 35

  • Excerpt: One needs to set WHAT you are scanning from to get a reasonable scan - photo, magazine, black & white image etc. The reproduction on screen is not (necessarily) what it would look like if you were to print it out there & then.
  • Pros: Sleek with front pad to start off some major features
  • Cons: Text scanning dubious, but see review

Canon LiDE 35 Scanner

  • Excerpt: A few months ago my old Agfa Snapscan 1212 gave up the ghost. Not surprising because I've had it since… it's been that long I honestly can't remember! It connected to the computer via the parallel port and was slower than the M25 with just one lane open.
  • Pros: lightweight, fast and easy to set up and use .  nice slimline design .
  • Cons: None that I have found

Credance1..., Ciao

  • Excerpt: After the success the Hewlett Packard 2400 scanner provided a couple of months ago, I recommended my friend (who went on a skiing trip last month) buy one to print out his holiday snaps. After a bit of searching he found this ; the CanoScan LiDE 35 scanner.
  • Pros: Very sleek and stylish looking, slimline .  Scans quite fast .
  • Cons: Expensive for the specs .  Lack of any special features .  Limited Colour producing capabilities .
