Summary: The scanner is small, light, easy to use, no power supply, it plugs directly to the laptop, definition is optimal. I don't know for professional results but for home work is a scanner that meets all your needs.
Summary: I use scanners to digitize ink, pencil, and occasionally color artwork on an amateur level. Long ago, I had an HP scanner for which I could find no equal. It worked buggily with XP, however, and other, newer HP scanners had a slew of problems. I didn't know about switching to Canon, but I can tell you it was a great decision. This thing is even better than that HP I used so many years ago.
Summary: Once the software that supports this simple scanner all that is needed to plug into a USB port and voila! It is ready to roll and scan just what you need to have scanned. The supporting software that is installed will get things running in no time with no complications. Anyone needing scans done, this is a great way to get the job done. Keep it simple with a simple scanner with no more than you need or want. Simple? Very simple.
Summary: Great scanner, small but very sharp. They may have made updates but when I bought this the software would not work with Windows 7. I was an easy fix though to go to the Cannon web site and download the fix.
Summary: I needed this for a genealogy research trip. Even with it's box it fit in my suitcase and arrived safely in checked luggage. All the scans of old photos, newspaper clippings and documents came out great. Easy to install. Easy to use. Fast enough to get it all done during brief visits with relatives. I still use a larger scanner in my home office, but this was great on the road.
