Summary: Good scanner. I just needed better quality images for website; better than just digital photos. I have to work on them in photoshop, but if you have photoshop it's a good scanner for the money.
Pros: Its a very nice looking flat bed scanner. The only power source is the USB which is great. The picture quality is great after scanning. For the price and brand, its definitely a good buy for home and office set-ups. Also, its easy to carry around in a laptop bag.
Cons: Its a little slow when scanning. If possible a firewire port would have been nice.
Pros: A single USB cable for power and data is great. Additionally, the unit is very light and portable. The scanner was easily recognized by Ubuntu Hardy Heron and was scanning within a few minutes out of the box. The LED lamp is ready for action immediately so you aren't wasting a lot of time waiting...
Cons: No significant issues. This is a perfect scanner for simple home use when scanning a handful of documents. The speed of scanning will begin to hinder any commercial uses..
Summary: For the price i can't really complain, it does what I bought it for. For the occasional scan you can't beat the price.
Pros: I bought this scanner to replace my legacy (not supported by vista) SCSI scanner which I use to scan the occasional document and check. It's an inexpensive, compact, light weight scanner, that's USB powered.
Cons: This scanner is SLOW, it takes a minute flat to scan a letter @ 300 DPI, there is color shift/bleeding at lower DPI's. The scanner arrived with a spec of dirt on the underside of the glass. The scanner doesn't work with my monitors USB ports.
Summary: My only problem with this scanner is the alignment. I had to make a copy of my dog's vaccination form, and the scanner made a copy that I swear is even better than the original. However, it also cut off the top 1/2 inch of the form where the address of the vet was.
Summary: Where's the competition in this price bracket? This is a decent scanner, but with the proper motivation I know they can do so much better. While it does the job, and at a somewhat cheap price, I expected more from Canon.
Pros: I've done several scans, mostly of pictures, and they have all turned out pretty good. It did require making a couple changes to the settings, but nothing major. And of course it's very small and light, and I like that it doesn't require warm-up and isn't blindingly bright like standard scanners ...
Cons: Very, very slow. Compared to my ~4 year old scanner on my Epson CX5200, I expected at least similar performance for speed, but this this is ridiculously slow. If you don't scan very often or in large amounts, it's bearable. I just do it while doing other stuff. If you do more than the most casual...
Summary: I probably only have need to scan 5 - 10 documents a month and since I don't have a AIO printer, I needed a good cheap scanner and this does the trick nicely. I find myself doing more scanning since I have the thing.
Pros: Simple, cheap, high-res scanner.
Cons: Gets colors wrong in most photographs, but scans newspaper, documents, magazine clippings to perfection.
