Does the job I wanted it to do

Schmulki, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I used the product for scanning old (sometimes 90 years old)family pictures. The scanner is very easy to use after just as easy setup. Quality is good and adjustments in settings sufficient. I took one star back for the cheap plastic cover and hinges which look like they will not survive longer than 2 years. However by then I will be done.
  • Pros: Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight
  • Cons: Cheap Plastic Cover

Good inexpensive scanner

  • Excerpt: Easy to use. Software has extra ways to save photos. Does PDF or JPEG. Had an older one that would not work with windows 7 so I purchased this one and it was up and running in 5 minutes (after software loaded)
  • Pros: Compact, Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight

  • Excerpt: Does what I need it to. Could be a bit faster at scanning though. Some of the software is not that handy.

but it's a solid scanner and a great value at just $79

John Pavliga, Amazon

  • Summary: The software could be improved, but it's a solid scanner and a great value at just $79.99 when I bought it. The only real complaint I have is that selecting 1200 DPI is not easy to figure out. You have to actually read the manual page by page to figure it out. In the basic on-screen box, you can only select up to 600 DPI.

Great scanner

Louis Lyon, Amazon
22 January 2014
  • Summary: I love the fact that you can save images as PDFs and JPGs (multiple scans as one file too), crop images and select the resolution, and I've never had any problems with it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the user interface should be better. The buttons on it don't behave the way I'd prefer so I don't use them, and I use it infrequently enough (sometimes months between uses) that a couple of times I forgot the path to take to do the kind of scan I prefer and...

Great Scanner, but software is buggy

Tom, Amazon
20 January 2014
  • Summary: Great scanner for my needs (mostly documents, some photos). However, the scanner occasionally freezes in the middle of scanning and the software on the computer also does not respond. At this point I have to restart my computer. This problem happens once every 30 scans or so. Running windows 8.1, with the latest drivers from Canon's website as of Jan 20, 2014.

Great affordable scanner

OzJono, Adorama
22 October 2013
  • Excerpt: Great affordable scanner. I predominantly use it to scan books, whether from the library or at my own collection. Its super easy to use (I use a Mac) and its nice and lightweight, so I can carry it anywhere. I also like that its powered by USB, so I dont need to carry a special power adaptor.Works great to scan stuff like photos or documents, and really nicely converts text in PDFs so you can use the highlight tool when viewing the PDF later.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Resolution, Widely Compatible

User Review

Spokane Guy, ECost

  • Summary: Haven't had this long nor have I used it much. But I've tried several things and am getting the hang of it. The scanning of color photos is good. I think I will be happy over the long run.

Ideal for Travelers

Tomah Cheesehead, Adorama
19 April 2013
  • Excerpt: As a snowbird traveling in an RV, I bought this LiDE 210 scanner because it is light, compact, and USB powered (no power brick}. The excellent quality of scans surprised me. I use it for scanning documents, photos, and checks for electronic bank deposits. Altho the GUI interface appears clunky to a Mac OS X user, it gets the job done - that is the only "con" I have noticed.
  • Pros: Compact design, Easy to use, High resolution
  • Cons: clunky software
