Excerpt: The LiDE 120 Canon Scanner is slower than 210 but it seems to work OK with Win 7. My fear is that will it work when my Windows automatically updates to Win 10. My last Canon LiDE 1220 &Lide 35 did not work when my Win Xp got updated to Win 7.

Summary: Nice scanner, but needs a dvd for installation. Note for some newer laptops this might be an issue as they do not have a dvd drive. I thought I would be able to down load all of the needed software and was disappointed to have to use the dvd. Maybe the new model will not have this issue, don't know.
Summary: Pros: - Works out of the box without any additional drivers (Linux). - Small device - Simple design - Fast at lower resolutions Cons: - Canon's current windows software sucks really. I am sorry to say that. But I was expecting something like the old simple CanoScan Scangear.
Conclusion: Pros - Easy to use for average users. Single cord - no need for a power cord or power supply brick. This is a major plus if you're traveling with this scanner, or occasionally need to place it in the middle of a large table to scan large items.
Excerpt: I got this scanner to replace a 5 year old Canon Lide scanner, which worked well and simply - until it died a month ago. With this new scanner it took over 15 minutes to get to the point where I could start to scan, between the CD installation process with many prompts, plus being sent to the Canon...
Conclusion: Horrible software packages. Finding the right way through complicated, over-sophisticated menus to find a simple way to scan a document and save it is a big hassle. After reinstalling my PC I thought it would be a shortcut to download the software, but I still had to download, try, delete a couple...
Summary: I would not recommend this product. The software was very difficult to understand. We needed the help of our son a computer expert to figure it out. We were ready to return item until he helped us out. Once installed and after some use, it was OK.
Summary: Don't scan material from a heavy book like a textbook. You'll scratch the inside glass. If you're looking to scan anything with any weight to it they designed this thing to have sharp bits on the scanner head which then scratches the inside of the glass.
