Excerpt: Even though I read all the reviews and still bought this model, I should have upgraded. If you don't have much to do and you don't mind waiting, this scanner does take it's time. Also, if you aren't gentle, the hinge that holds the top on cracks and breaks really easily which makes it very difficult...
Conclusion: Better be a techie to install and use this in Windows 8. Installation can't find Windows 8 as OS (doesn't offer Win 7 either). Has addendum for running on Windows 8. Installation does not build a icon, so you have to create shortcut yourself, by finding a file name not used in the documentation.
Pros: Compact Design, one cable operation
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow-speed scanning, Low resolution, poor documention
Summary: So upon un-boxing it I immediately took it for a test run. I scanned in two documents, the first a color watercolor piece and the second some line art I did with a sharpie pen. The color watercolor piece came out pretty good, I was fine with that; however, when I scanned the line art, I came upon a...
Conclusion: I purchased this scanner for its "easy set up and satisfactory scanning," which was touted by an online retailer. Reviews seemed favorable at that site, and the price was right. Unfortunately, the software that accompanied the scanner is apparently not compatible with Win 7 Home Edition,on a 64 bit...
Pros: Compact Design, High resolution, High-speed scanning, lightweight
Cons: Difficult to use, software not compatible with win 7
Excerpt: I've had nothing but "Navigator has stopped working" error messages since day one with this scanner! Canon's support is not helpful. It's a lost cause--Win 7 and this machine are apparently not compatible.
Conclusion: Horrible software packages. Finding the right way through complicated, over-sophisticated menus to find a simple way to scan a document and save it is a big hassle. After reinstalling my PC I thought it would be a shortcut to download the software, but I still had to download, try, delete a couple...
Its technically ok BUT menu system is very confusing!
6 September 2012
Summary: The scanner arrived in perfect condition. The software installed quickly without problems. When Ready for use, the difficulties emerged: the menu and instant buttons were confusing, time consuming and quite aggravating.
Conclusion: This scanner was great while it was working. Problem is it doesn't work anymore. I had it for about a month, used it very rarely, and now the bulb is burnt out. The scanner basically sits in one spot on my desk so not sure why this would happen - it's not from being jarred or anything.
Excerpt: The directions for setup were easy enough to follow, but the scanner took a long time to perform functions. Different screens were confusing and it seemed to take forever to get my documents and pictures scanned. Mostof the time I just go back to the scanning function on my copier that I have.
