I think this is a GREAT scanner!

  • Summary: I'd buy this thing again in a heartbeat & give it as a gift as well. It is very, very portable-you just slip it into your 17" backpack/laptop carrying case, no problem! Plug it in (w/Windows 8.1) and you are instantly in business.

Great... for what it's designed to do

Alabama Al, Canon
18 August 2014
  • Excerpt: OK, so it's not the LiDE110, it's the LiDE70! BUT I'll bet the speed and resolution has improved a bunch. I've been using the '70 for about 5 years and its portability suits my needs (fits in my backpack WITH my laptop and only one cable needed).
  • Pros: Compact Design, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, easy to use, price!
  • Cons: Large Footprint, medium speed scanning

Overall solid purchase - one thing to be aware of

Paul J. Pinella, Amazon
2 April 2014
  • Summary: Overall I'm quite happy with this scanner, which I run on my Windows 8.1 desktop. Setup was easy and I really like the "one cable" approach and the low power draw with the LCD lamps. Just plug this into a USB port and you're connected to your computer and a power source, too.

Adequate For My Needs

Mark N., Newegg
13 March 2014
  • Summary: Linux doesn't recognize the scanner in my fancy all-in-one printer so I bought this. It works well with Linux Mint 16 and Simple Scan. After much experimentation, including placing a phone book on the lid, I am getting decent results from this.
  • Pros: Cheap, easy installation, does what it is supposed to do.
  • Cons: None.

Works great once configured. Lightweight lid.

MR H., Newegg
3 February 2014
  • Summary: If using Linux, you'll have to play with the brightness and contrast in something other than Simple Scan (SS won't change those settings). Scans will come out muddy and dark. Use xsane or something more powerful like that to compensate for this.
  • Pros: Takes good scans, even for photos and artwork. Reasonable speed. Great quality for the money.
  • Cons: Lid doesn't want to close all the way. It's very light, and does not apply any pressure to the object being scanned, so it sometimes makes gradients if you don't do something about it. Mine is weiged down by a bible. First time I've found one of those useful.

Great little scanner

HP708, Amazon
1 February 2014
  • Summary: This is a wonderful little scanner for the money. Very compact and light. Fast and accurate scans. The software is high quality and easy to use. For document scans its a one click operation. Color copy is good as well. ( See edit) It would work well for archiving photos.
