  • Summary: After reading others reviews on this Scanner I was concerned. So, I called Canon and they (over the phone) had me load the necessary software(s) and manual to my Mac mini (Apple) computer. When the scanner arrived I took it to Apple and they showed me how it works. The teacher finally realized that the button on the bottom of the scanner needed to be released before it would work. We wasted 15 minutes on figuring that problem out.

Not That Easy To Use When Scanning For Email

Larry, Amazon

  • Summary: This SCANNER, CANON, CANOSCAN LiDE 110 scans documents well, but is not that easy to use. I don't like the fact that it won't scan directly as an email attachment. You have to scan to a file and then get file to email as an attachment. Same if you want to scan document to Microsoft word. I don't know if all scanners are the same in this regard, but this one is not what I thought it would be.

  • Summary: My review is as follows: The scanner does what it says it will do. The issues I have read about in the other reviews have not shown up as of yet, but I think the usb issue is a big one. The fact that you can get the error " not connected " when you know you are , is a big headache. I have it connected to usb that is in my computer, rather than a add-on usb hub, and so far, no problems. It is made very cheaply, and my concern is it won't last very long.

  • Summary: Lags a little between unit and computer when scanner is activated through the buttons located on the scanner and any change in settings (ie: resolution) must be set prior using the console. Notice the auto default for scanning images are to PDF which won't allow image adjustment for many users who only have Adobe reader. I like the choice overall, but feel most users would benefit changing the default to JPG.

Scanner great, let down by software

Graham Harter, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this scanner because I decided it was time to shred several years' worth of collected papers I no longer had room for, and keep them instead as files on my PC. I went for this one as a low-cost option which had good reviews. On the whole I am very happy with the product. It was easy to install; it's simple to use; and it takes nice, "clean" images which are easy to read, and more importantly "look" like the original sheet of paper.

Definitely room for improvement

  • Excerpt: I'd hoped for a simple-to-operate scanner with state-of-the-art OCR to pull documents into Word. Instead, this has confusing terminology with limited scan features. I'll divide this review into Installation, Documentation, Operation and Performance. Installation On the Quick Start sheet you're told to insert the installation disk first.
