Summary: I had been looking online for about a year for an inexpensive USB powered scanner that would scan into a pdf file. Pdf's are the number one choice for readable and visual documents opened in attachments globally. I was not completely sold on the idea of the hand held scanners and most of those that were affordable did not scan into pdf's and were often not in alignment.
Summary: I purchased this scanner when I decommissioned my all-in-one inkjet printer and replaced it with a plain laser printer. The all-in-one had my only scanning capability so back to a dedicated scanner I went. I had a much older version of this same scanner series many years ago and it always performed well. I gave it to charity when I bought the all-in-one printer, a decision I always regretted, so I was very happy to find that this series is still available.
Summary: This scanner can scan in color, contrary to the black and white only of NEAT. This is the best scanner I have ever used. Reduced 5 years of bills, taxes, recipes, photos and all my medical records. It does a really good job!
Pros: Takes good scans, even for photos and artwork. Reasonable speed. Great quality for the money.
Cons: Lid doesn't want to close all the way. It's very light, and does not apply any pressure to the object being scanned, so it sometimes makes gradients if you don't do something about it. Mine is weiged down by a bible. First time I've found one of those useful.
