Summary: i have had this scanner for over 5 years now, it still works fine. I have never had any serious issue with it. When i was using WinXP i had to download drivers ( or use the scanner's CD) - this gave me full functionality (could use the buttons on the front). Now, with Win7 the drivers are automatically downloaded but i don't get functionality through the front buttons. This is the only problem that i have had. Nowadays i just use the devices & printers option to scan.
Summary: I got this scanner as a gift to scan old photos. It is fantastic for scanning old photos. Simply drop the 4 photos on the glass (no need to line them up, get them straight, etc.). Push a button, and the scanner scans the photos, straightens them up and separates them. I don't use the editing software so I can't comment on that, but this is a great scanner for a Mac user.
Summary: Very easy to set up. It was hooked up and operational in less then 5 minutes. Produces quality scans as well. Scans into my various applicatios effortlessly. I am very happy that I purchased this Scanner.
Summary: I bought this scanner so I could digitize many old family photos and it works great. Not terribly fast, but it gets the job done to my satisfaction. It is super easy to install and I love the fact it doesn't have tons of wires and cords to plug into my my computer. The USB cable is all you need for both power and connectivity.
Summary: Needed a scanner for our home office and was researching them online when I found this one. First of all, I was SO impressed with the seller who got the item to me in 1 day!!! The scanner is EXTREMELY easy to use, and I consider myself somewhat computer ignorant. I have not used it for pictures yet (just some documents), but it looks like it can do some amazing restoration with old pictures.
Summary: This scanner is excellent for everyday use. You plug in the USB cable, download and install the (free) proprietary software (MP Navigator EX 2.0), and you're good to go. I'm running mine with a WinXP64 computer. It reads color photos and b&w documents from the start and allows saving as a PDF with some additional (free) downloaded software. The only complaint I have is the noise. The scanner "arm" sounds like it is scraping the glass when it moves during a scan.
Summary: It's simplicity of use. Great size to go in bag with laptop. Have a 70 on wifes system... almost bought another of same, but could upgrade for same price and get new with a bit higher quality, and buttons are easier to see and use. ALSO am a retired Canon Copier Tech. So I know Canon's quality is second to no one!!!
