Stopped working

Rebecca, Amazon
17 November 2013
  • Summary: I liked this at first but within about 6 months it stopped working. I looked through the manual but can't figure out why it isn't working.

Decent, but won't last

Daniel A., Newegg
15 October 2011
  • Summary: After 18 months' of ownership, the device suddenly stopped "resetting" back to the starting position. The only way I can get it to do so is to unplug and replug it in.
  • Pros: Cheap. Does the job decently enough. Nice 1-button scan options.
  • Cons: Typical antiquated software. Broke after 18 months' use.

scanning at > 600 dpi is a pain

Brett L., Newegg
17 March 2010
  • Summary: This might be a totally awesome piece of hardware. But, without friendly functional software (in > 600 dpi mode) this scanner is a frustrating experience.
  • Pros: Inexpensive. Fine for 600dpi scanning.
  • Cons: Scanning at > 600 dpi is a pain. Once you read the manual and get to the "use driver/advanced scanning" mode of the provided software, max dpi is still *only* 1200. (Scanning via Windows Photo Gallery also only goes up to 600.) Provided software doesn't save preferred output folder. Multi-crop pr...

Image looks like snow

Crystal R., Newegg
23 February 2010
  • Summary: I bought this and returned it in hopes it was just a defective one. I got this to replace my HP scanjet 2400 that I bought at a yard sale. The scanjet which has windows 98 listed as the compatibility still has a higher image quality. The picture is grainy and the colors are way off.
  • Pros: Energy efficient, ridiculously easy software, light, space saving
  • Cons: Horrible image quality. Software is annoying.

NOT VERY GOOD

James P., Newegg
24 November 2009
  • Summary: Even though it's cheap, don't buy it. The low quality is not worth the aggravation.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, powered off the USB
  • Cons: Low quality scans that are not adjustable in the software like other cannon scanners

Cannon Software does not work in Snow Leopard!

  • Pros: Good scanner before snow leopard update.
  • Cons: Scanner software does not work with the Mac OSX snow leopard update. Do not buy if you own snow leopard.

Not up to design standards

revdillane, Amazon
15 December 2008
  • Summary: I received this scanner as a gift, but had to return it because it was not up to snuff for scanning beautiful, crisp images for design-work purposes. The scanner is perhaps fine for general purposes, but I had to re-work every image individually in Photoshop in order to approximate the original...

Decent quality, but only for FLAT NON-reflective surface

C. Ng, Amazon
15 December 2008
  • Summary: Scan quality on this machine is not bad, but ONLY if the object you are scanning is totally flat and non-reflective. Objects that are even 1/5th of an inch off the surface will appear rather blurry, and anything reflective will leave streaks in the scan due to the CIS scan head.
