Summary: This might be a totally awesome piece of hardware. But, without friendly functional software (in > 600 dpi mode) this scanner is a frustrating experience.
Pros: Inexpensive. Fine for 600dpi scanning.
Cons: Scanning at > 600 dpi is a pain. Once you read the manual and get to the "use driver/advanced scanning" mode of the provided software, max dpi is still *only* 1200. Summary: I bought this and returned it in hopes it was just a defective one. I got this to replace my HP scanjet 2400 that I bought at a yard sale. The scanjet which has windows 98 listed as the compatibility still has a higher image quality. The picture is grainy and the colors are way off.
Pros: Energy efficient, ridiculously easy software, light, space saving
Cons: Horrible image quality. Software is annoying.

The scanner is perhaps fine for general purposes, but I had to re-work every image individually in Photoshop in order to approximate the original...
Decent quality, but only for FLAT NON-reflective surface

Summary: Scan quality on this machine is not bad, but ONLY if the object you are scanning is totally flat and non-reflective. Objects that are even 1/5th of an inch off the surface will appear rather blurry, and anything reflective will leave streaks in the scan due to the CIS scan head.
