Summary: Easy to install...easy to use///took about 3 minutes to hook up and start using. This is great for anyone, knowledgeable or not. I'm an IT and I found it extremely simple, but so would anyone else. Images are sharp and clear. Scans quickly and quietly. One of the best I have used.
Excerpt: My Dad works with digital imagery for a living, he works for a company which prints loads of packaging and stuff for everyday household products and suchlike. When we got a computer it wasn’t long before we had a stack of CDs including Adobe Photoshop, Photopaint, Corel Draw, Quark, and pretty much every other imaging software you can imagine. However we still didn’t have the key ingredient to altering our own images, a scanner.
Excerpt: I purchased this scanner a couple of months ago, and have been giving it a good test run ever since. It is definitely the sleekest scanner I have seen, but speed certainly isn't one of its plus points. The scanner will operate in 4 modes over the parallel port - ranging from normal parallel (slowest), to EPP (fastest) - unfortunately my combination of setup (pretty new AMD 900 Thunderbird PC) and Windows 2000 will not drive this scanner in fastest mode.
Excerpt: Well, this the thinnest scanner I have ever seen. I bought 2 of these over the christmas period as presents (thank you buy.com and your coupons) and both recipients have been very happy with them. It is easy to set up and use - the software is aceptable for the money you spend on the scanner, but investing in better software (eg paint shopp pro, omnipage etc) could bring better results in terms of ease of use and facilities available for image manipulation.
Excerpt: I was rcently in the market for a flatbed scanner and stumbled across a review in a magazine. Although the canoscan wasn't the best model on test for the money, it did well enough to interest me. (gaining a score of 71%) The canoscan looks great and is only a third of the size of a standard flatbed. (even the most expensive ones) It looks great, and is styled really well.
Pros: very well styled, small, good software, quick .
Cons: not 5 star quality scans, ocr software only trial basis .
