Summary: As this is my first scanner i am obviously going to be a bit biased in my decision. Anyway, i really do like this scanner because of the way it stores pictures in a seperate folder for every day if you so choose. And that is only one of the many choices, another is that you can choose the size or format that you want the document or picture saved as. There are even add ons that i didn't get that you can.
Summary: I'm impressed with this scanner, and currently use the USB 2.0 speed. Needless to say, speed is the keyword here! I am so sick of slow scanners - they drove me nuts for years. Let's get to the facts: I wrote to Canon with questions before purchasing this item. The unit scans at 4 msec / line (at 600 dpi), and 8 msec / line (at 1200 dpi) for either color or black and white. This is twice as fast as the Epson brands I was considering with USB 2.0 capability.
Summary: I am a price concious consumer when it comes to my computer equipment and this item has blown me away. The color fidelity for Color and Black & White negative scanning this is the best I have seen for scanners in this price range. 8.5x11 Platen scanning is equally as impressive, the installation was quick and easy and USB 2.0 makes overall speed more than satisfying in comparrison to other products.
Summary: I needed to replace my old UMAX scanner that had developed some type of condensation/fogging inside the glass that was showing up on my scans. Also, this Canon scanner comes with a slide/negative scanner which my old scanner did not have. This scanner blazes using USB 1.1 compared to my old parallel port scanner and its software bundle is better too.
Summary: This is my second Canon Scanner, The other one was the little skinny one, I dont remember the model number, lasted for years and gave me excellent service. Bought the 1250U2F today, had it set up in notime, tried the first scan, was not so great, realized I was scanning a photo at 75 DPI, corrected this, results, typically Canon, excellent. The setup looked a bit glitchy, I was warned by Win.
Summary: I purchased this scanner for my husband for Christmas. It is very versatile and easy to use. It has an adaptor to scan slides and negatives with ease. It also turns your computer into a copy machine with the push of one button. The software was simple to load and is not very difficult or time consuming when you would like to scan something. I would definitly recommend this scanner...especially for the price. You do not need to purchase any separate USB cables.
Summary: Software installed easily into my XP system. The software includes a neat program called "photo record" where you can create a montage of different pictures on one sheet with many different effects. Also included is an easy to use Adobe Photo shop, which has taken some of my old faded pictures and revitalized them. I have scanned B/W negatives, color negatives and slides with very good results.
So easy, even I could do it (and that's saying a lot)

Summary: I planned to wait till my husband got home to set up this scanner, especially since I really messed up the installation of our LAST scanner. It never really worked right after I got my hands on it. So I really, really did mean to wait until someone more techno-savvy than me could set up this one. But as the afternoon wore on and I sat there, glancing over at the box from time to time, my resolve started to fade...until, finally, in spite of my son's warnings (No!
