Summary: I really can't say too much about the scanner. Although the scanner worked, I never got the software to work on my computer's system. But I can tell you that the seller was very nice and patient w/me trying to get the software to work. The delivery was good and the communication with the seller was great.
Summary: This scanner is excellent for scanning low profile 3d objects. It has a good depth of field to pick up detail and dimension without blurriness. I love this scanner. Unfortunately the company has not updated it to work with mac osx so if you have a newer mac don't get this scanner. Comes with good photo editing software. Easy to use without being so simple it loses functionality. I used this scanner for years to scan jewelry for my catalog.
Summary: Be warned - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT Unfortunately I can not give this a Zero Star. When purchased new the scanner was faulty, and exhibited poor quality control with particles inside the scanner. It was returned for repair under warranty twice, and finally the main curcuit board was replaced.
Summary: When you get it, check the inside glass with flash light before you plug it in. Mine was peppered with grime and dust; Scans show these as white specks everywhere! I'm returning this product from company that does no quality checks on its product. Mine also had DOA film scanner. You can be sure I'll try to avoid all future canon products.
Summary: I purchased this scanner for the 35mm negitive scanning. I wasn't disappointed. I setup the machine, installed the software and was up and running scanning negitives in about 30 Minutes. Very nice negitive scanning at 1200x1200 for the price ( I was not interested in purchasing a 400.00 film scanner). Photo scanning was simular in quality. Overall a good product.
Poor photo quality scans, not worth it for the money
1 February 2002
Summary: Bought this scanner because it was supposed to be a good photo scanner, but when i got it and set it up the quality was worse then the scanner i had gotten for about 60 bucks a year or two earlier. For just everyday scan use and not for nice photo quality scans it worked ok. Was very fast, just don't reccommend if you are looking for a high qualtiy scan. Returned and it took forever to get my money back.
Summary: 2 problems kept this from getting 5 stars, sadly both could have been avoided. First, don't even try to use the drivers on the CD-Rom just go straight to their web site and download the newest drivers. This is not mentioned anywhere in any of the literature I received with the unit. Also, my first unit (which I returned) had the grey film on the underside of the glass aas well as little plastic filings that I could not see until the internal lamp came on.
Summary: After reading pretty good reviews I bought it, but unfortunately the lock switch seemed to be defective and the scanner bar wouldn't move. I checked with Canon tech support and found them to be more responsive than I expected, but their suggestions didn't make it work and I returned the unit. I now have an Epson that seems to be OK.
