Scanner great but problems exist in 120 scans

Michael E. Abrams "Mike the professor", Amazon
20 June 2008
  • Summary: I have used this with my Mac G5 desktop and Photoshop for many scans of negatives and positives. Because I had problems scanning 120 black and white with the 120 holder (it would only preview two at a time instead of six) I was on the phone to Canon for an hour or so. I thought we had it fixed, but it went back to the old habits.

Canon Canoscan

Bailey "ponocat", Amazon
15 July 2007
  • Summary: I have had Epson scanners in the past and was plagued with problems with every one of them. When I bought the Canon, I did not expect too much. I am delighted to say that it has been trouble-free. (I bought it about a year ago and waited until now to write this, so this report is based on lengthy experience.) I have had no technical problems with it whatsoever and it scans cleanly and quickly.

Better than expected film scans

Jim Bob "Squeezemaster", Amazon
10 January 2007
  • Summary: I bought this scanner mainly for scanning old photos. The very first scan I made with it was of a >4x5 glass plate image from about the 1860's. It was processed to be viewed as a positive image although it could have been printed in an enlarger. The surface of the plate was painted with colors of gold for jewelry and rouge cheeks and painted lips. I scanned it as a print and was amazed at the quality of the digital file.

Okay for the money

B. Benner, Amazon
9 January 2007
  • Summary: I needed to scan historical family slides to create a wedding slide show. Used the 9950F to do both color prints and color slides. It does better on the prints than it does slides. Most of the slides were washed out and I see why they send Photoshop Elements with the scanner, the images need some help. Between iPhoto and Photoshop I was able to make decent, but not original quality images.

Canoscan 9950 has big resolution at a low price

R. Fordham "Ron", Amazon
29 December 2006
  • Summary: I purchased my CanoScan 9950F Sept 1, 2006 to scan precious family images, some over 150 years old, some from last week. I began with prints, scanning about 6 per day, since that's what I have that are the oldest that I wanted to get scanned and burned to archival Verbatim dvd. I scanned each photo at 200, 300, 600, 1200, and some at 1800 and 2400. The higher resolution is for smaller photos or photos of groups or people who are small in the photo.

great for students

Loyal A. Auterson, Amazon
25 July 2006
  • Summary: I purchased this item in order to digitize the medium and large format negatives that I shoot for university level classes. I've been very happy with it so far. When scanning 6x6 negatives at 4800 dpi I average an image output of 43 x 43 inches at about 240 dpi. I have two complaints after using it for nearly a month. There is a propensity to collect dust on the scanner surface that is very irritating.

High Quality Image Scanner

Chouchinc..., Ciao
16 February 2006
  • Excerpt: Do you all remember the days before digital cameras? Do you all, like me, have boxes of 35mm slides and paper envelopes of negatives stashed in dark corners of the house and attic? Even more importantly, you may have some old archive photos, like your grandparents on a pre-war holiday at the seaside, or family events dating back decades, or your dad, or you, in a Lone Ranger outfit circa 1960.
  • Pros: Excellent image scanner

Para profesionalizarse

Geosmina, Ciao
26 January 2007

j-paul49, Ciao
10 August 2006
  • Summary: Pour completer mon ordinateur, j'ai acheté ce scanner.
