Summary: I originally ordered this for scanning slides. I was disappointed in the results (they were too dark). HOWEVER, I came to discover that it excels at photographs. It is MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than my all-in-one HP printer scanner and the driver software is also WAY more advanced. I can lay out as many photographs as I want on the glass plate (as long as they are separated by a cm or so) and in one pass the canon will separate them all out. Really nice.
Professional level scans at less then 1/3 the price.

Summary: As a graphics professional I've used just about every brand scanner some costing 4 times what this one does. I think this is the best quality scanner for up to 4 times as much money. The dust and scratch adjustments in the software save me time and the color is phenomenal.
Great for scanning all sorts of negatives including 35mm with sprockets from a Holga

Summary: works as expected. Great for scanning 120 film and 35mm film. Used 35mm in Holga, so wanted to scan in the whole film strip, including sprocket holes. Used 120 film holder to scan in 35mm negative to get sprockets as well. Came out great. Can adjust dpi on your scan, can save in different formats including a 'lossless' .tiff format. Loving the results, a few examples provided below.
Summary: I bought this to scan and preserve old family photographs, for a family tree project, and to create a family photo album for my daughter and nieces and nephew. Bought it right before Thanksgiving, and shipped it to my parents' home, so I could start this while I was home for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The editing software is pretty good, and enabled me to fix the many imperfections on old black and white and color photographs. Scans super quickly, too.
Summary: I bought this because I needed better scans of color prints than I could get from my office multifunction printer/scanner, and this certainly meets that need. I compared scans from my printer scanner with scans of the same print from the Canoscan, and the results are far better -- more accurate colors, better correction of defects, and faster.
Summary: I am working a major photo scan effort of over 5000 35mm slides and 8000 historical photos. The Canon CanoScan 9000F MarkII paired with Photoshop CC is a photo scanners dream. This device is Fast! And the supporting software is a huge help when it comes to removing scratches and brightening up 100 year old photos before puling them into either Paintshop Pro 6X or Photoshop CC.
Summary: I've had this scanner now for about a month, and I've run several hundred 35 mm slides, dozens of 4x5, 620, 120, and other large and medium format black and white negatives and a few 35mm black and white negatives through it. This scanner is very fast, thanks to USB II, and if you take the time to tweak the settings, you'll be very happy with the results.

Summary: Amazing scanner. I am not techno, but I set this up & was scanning in about 30 minutes. It took some time to download the manual and applications. I have scanned 1,000 slides so far. Great Quality!!! Takes about 2 minutes to scan 4 slides at 1200 dpi onto my MAC (not 15 minutes as previous reviewer reported). I am very happy with this purchase!
Summary: I have been using the CanoScan 9000F to scan both slides and pictures. I have been overwhelmed with delight on the high quality of the scan system as well as the flawless efficiency of this machine. I have scanned approximately 50 items now and am very busy to convert to digital a lot of old slides. I am very pleased with this purchase.
