Summary: I bought this to scan and preserve old family photographs, for a family tree project, and to create a family photo album for my daughter and nieces and nephew. Bought it right before Thanksgiving, and shipped it to my parents' home, so I could start this while I was home for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The editing software is pretty good, and enabled me to fix the many imperfections on old black and white and color photographs. Scans super quickly, too.
Summary: I bought this because I needed better scans of color prints than I could get from my office multifunction printer/scanner, and this certainly meets that need. I compared scans from my printer scanner with scans of the same print from the Canoscan, and the results are far better -- more accurate colors, better correction of defects, and faster.
Summary: I am working a major photo scan effort of over 5000 35mm slides and 8000 historical photos. The Canon CanoScan 9000F MarkII paired with Photoshop CC is a photo scanners dream. This device is Fast! And the supporting software is a huge help when it comes to removing scratches and brightening up 100 year old photos before puling them into either Paintshop Pro 6X or Photoshop CC.
Summary: I've had this scanner now for about a month, and I've run several hundred 35 mm slides, dozens of 4x5, 620, 120, and other large and medium format black and white negatives and a few 35mm black and white negatives through it. This scanner is very fast, thanks to USB II, and if you take the time to tweak the settings, you'll be very happy with the results.
GREAT scanner- excellent quality- extremely pleased.

Summary: Amazing scanner. I am not techno, but I set this up & was scanning in about 30 minutes. It took some time to download the manual and applications. I have scanned 1,000 slides so far. Great Quality!!! Takes about 2 minutes to scan 4 slides at 1200 dpi onto my MAC (not 15 minutes as previous reviewer reported). I am very happy with this purchase!
Summary: I have been using the CanoScan 9000F to scan both slides and pictures. I have been overwhelmed with delight on the high quality of the scan system as well as the flawless efficiency of this machine. I have scanned approximately 50 items now and am very busy to convert to digital a lot of old slides. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Summary: It works so well after setting the menu for the buttons on the machine, I sit at my desk and every 5 minutes load another 2 strips. It develops them to the computer and we sift through the bad ones and are finding many old gems! I have over a 1,000 to go but it is so easy to load and push the button and it does all the work.
Summary: I have about 2000 slides to preserve, and after much research decided on this scanner. So far I am very satisfied with it. I have not used the negative and film strips---just the slide and photo options. The slides have come out beautifully, and have been able to "clean up" some of the age-yellowed ones--but not all. I had some problems with some of the oldest slides that are not 35 mm. But I knew going into this that they would not come out perfectly.
