Summary: I bought this scanner as a replacement. As I have had excellent results with several Canon products in the past, including printers and cameras, I was confident the CanoScan would perform well too. It does. It produces excellent results, is easy to use and fast. I would highly recommend this model for professional results in a compact design.

Summary: My mom left me thousands of old family slides. This is a very good scanner and has allowed me to get most of them scanned. It's not super quick, but the resolution is good and I'm so glad i bought this. I believe consumer reports even gave this a favorable review. For the money, this is one of the best you can get.
Summary: I got this unit to archive a ton of slides, photos and lots of negatives. This one even does 120 film and transparencies! The software is pretty easy to figure out, even though there are multiple pieces of it to learn to use the full capabilities of the unit it wasn't too difficult, just a little confusing. As long as you go by Canon's way of doing things, it is pretty simple and straightforward.
Summary: This scanner out performs any I've tried. The cool light source is ready to go about three seconds after power on. It also handles negatives and slides very well with sharp results. The On/Off switch on the top front is convenient, so I don't have to leave my seat to turn it on. I highly recommend this Cannon scanner.
Summary: I got this scanner to scan over 1000 35 mm slides. This scanner has a slide tray to position 4 slides at once on the scanner. This tray sits on the face of the glass. You drop your slide into position on the tray. After you have done the scan you leave the tray in place and pick the slides out by hand. This means while you may get fingerprints on the face of the scanner they are not in a location where they interfere with your slide scanning project.
