Summary: I wish NewEgg took the time to tell me what I am recieving.. This my be my last Recertified anything I buy.....
Pros: Looks like it is quality mad much better than my old Epson.. Has Spring Loaded Top that stays open with out falling on your hands..
Cons: Even though NewEgg say PhotoShop Elements v4 is included it is not.. The newest version is about $100 so I would say this older version is worth $50.. Thats the discount amount AND you only get a 90 day warranty not 365..
Summary: This company has a good customer service and they are not responsible if Canon does not their homework to x-check refurbished items before delivery. So this is to blame Canon. else, I think the scanner is fine for film scanning, thats what I use it for.
Pros: Easy setup, bargain priced, fair to good film scans,
Cons: Package missed the 6x6 format negative holders, after only 5 35mm scans the upper lid with the light in it jammed so the light could not follow the full length of the strips anymore. This was caused by the connecting cable that got stuck somehow in the inside of the lid. I appreciate the customer...
Summary: I have not tried slides or negatives. For text, is not great, using color to scan a black and whote document with, say, a signed blue siganature, results in a purple scan where the white paper should be-looks like the scan is the fluorescent light passing through the paper. Disappointing.
Excerpt: About six years ago, a visiting relative wanted to buy us a gift - something for the computer, he suggested. I commented that our old scanner had pretty much stopped working, and he suggested a new one.
Pros: Scans different media including negatives and slides, good quality, easy installation, rugged
Cons: Only four slides at a time, a little slow, takes up a lot of space
Excerpt: The canon Canoscan 8600F are best suited for reflective scanning and film of greater size that 35mm. For large format and medium format film it is quite good actually and should allow you to make large print from your scan.
Pros: Nice and fast for reflective scanning, good result from film at larger sizes .
Cons: Not good enough for large prints of scanned 35mm film .
Excerpt: Scanning prints or pphotographs is ok. Speed is generally good. The PDF support is good. It will scan Slides using Silversoft but only one at a time and you can't use FARE. Which is the dust removal technology and is essential if you want good scans.
Pros: Scans are speedy not the fastest though
Cons: Canon drivers don't work - so no Bulk scanning& can't use FARE
Excerpt: I own a small printers and my back-ground is in Graphic Design so when I look for a scanner I look for one that is easy to use but can supply quality high resolution images that can be used for a professional looking finished product and the Canon CanoScan 8600F never fails to deliver the results I...
Pros: Nice resolution, quick and easy to use, professional quality scanner
Summary: Ottimo scanner su windows, qualità di immagine e velocità eccellenti! Ed ottimo anche il prezzo. Ma attenzione, a differenza di quello che dicono in altre opinioni, ad oggi questo scanner non è assolutamente compatibile con LINUX. La Canon si ostina a non rilasciare nessun driver per linux.
