Not full functioning on upgraded Macs

Carolyn Scott, Amazon
13 July 2014
  • Summary: Idiots at Canon have not upgraded the software for Maverick system on Macs. It still works to some degree but not all features are available. Wouldn't you think that a company would provide support for its product?

Great Right Out of the Box!

Leslie F. Miller "dogfaceboy", Amazon
19 November 2006
  • Summary: I got home yesterday at 2:00 to find my CanoScan 8400F in the Amazon box on the floor, waiting for me. By 2:30, I had scanned photographs, slides, and my grandmother's old, hand-written recipes. The scans look as good as the originals--sometimes better, as much of what I have is badly damaged.

Easy to use does all I want, inexpensive

Paraducks "Gioco", Amazon
9 November 2006
  • Summary: I only make use of the simplest of its features: to copy documents to my computer and to copy slides. It does both excellently and is extremely easy to use. It has many advanced features I have never bothered to consider.

Thank You, Canon, for your 8400F Scanner!!

Chloe A. Milne "Family Album Fan", Amazon
6 November 2006
  • Summary: The 8400F scanner is wonderful; it is easy to learn to use and produces excellent scans. It comes with frames for three film sizes: 35mm, slides, and 2.25" sq. negatives. (I also improvised a frame out of black card stock, which will fit inside the 2.25" frame, for holding my old 1.5" sq. negs.

Great all around

Christian J., Newegg
17 September 2006
  • Summary: Very good product, particularly good bang for your buck.
  • Pros: 35mm slides, 35mm film, large format film, pictures - all scanned beautifully with a single device! Tweaking the advanced adjustments in the scanner software gives you the best results.
  • Cons: Would be nice if it scanned more than 4 slides at once...many similar priced and comparable devices offer 8-16 slides at a time.

Poor Quality Control

Anonymous, Newegg
28 August 2006
  • Summary: Newegg RMA process is smooth, even though you have to pay return shipping.
  • Pros: USB, Digital ICE, and film scanning. Accurate color after calibration. Remove grain and dust features work well when needed. Other features might as well leave off and perform in photoshop as needed.
  • Cons: Had to buy three before I got one without noticeable haze and dust under the glass. Still get discoloration at very bottom of the frame. Glossy prints that have white on them reflect to gray.
