very satisfied with this scanner

kingdonking, Ebay
2 December 2012
  • Summary: I like the scanner for a couple of reasons. I've been scanning negatives and slide for quite a while and never been totally happy with the negative carriers supplied with the other brands. I really like the carriers that came with this one. It even has one to use with longer film strips so you can feed them through instead of cutting them into 5 or 6 frames at a time. Resulting photo files have been as good or better than other scanners I have used.

Great Scanner

barbie793, Ebay
31 August 2011
  • Summary: I love this scanner. It's speedy, the colors are great. 6400 x 3200 dpi and 48 bit depth. Works with both PC's and Mac. Scans, copies, does E-mail and PDF's. It scans documents, film, and slides. AND I have read other reviews and they all complain about using the CD that comes with it. I have Windows Vista and I just put the CD in and it did it's thing and was up and running. I've already been using it as I have a zillion documents to scan and put on DVD's.

Versatile, fast and accurate. Typical HP integrity!

hapticz, Ebay
22 May 2011
  • Summary: Easy to use. Simple driver installation (I use Windows Vista32), the HP Win 95, XP software install package works with this. Fast isn't the word, this thing is like lightning! Preview is 2 seconds for full platen. Normal 300/600dpi full color scans are as easy. The 1200/4800dpi scans take longer since these files can be close to 200Megabytes in their final size. Its very quiet, cover allows books and it does transparency and 35MM film.

Excellent - once you get the WIndows 7 kinks out

scootergirls30, Ebay
17 August 2010
  • Summary: I wanted to buy the exact same scanner at Future Shop but the price was way beyond what I was willing to spend. I am trying to digitize all the old pictures, slides and negatives 'for posterity' and I was tickled pink to get this scanner on eBay for such a small sum. The person who was selling it was frustrated because it does not work with Windows 7 without a bit of work. If you are not adept at finding drivers etc., then try another scanner.

Annoying to use, but it works okay.

bob84095, Ebay
25 June 2010
  • Summary: The thing looks silly, but that's beside the point as long as it works, right? This one may or may not work for you, depending on what you want it for, and how much you want to fiddle with it. The driver is not compatible with Windows 7, but Microsoft has a fix that you can download. Even after the downloaded driver was installed, the computer didn't recognise the device.

Canon 8400F scanner a great bargin dispite gotcha

gfirth, Ebay
15 April 2010
  • Summary: There is one small gotcha for the Canon CanoScan 8400F Flatbed Scanner: its twain communication will not work if the path environmental variable is too long. If you test the unit from the control panel, it will pass the test but if you try to call up Canoscan software from say Photoshop or Paperport, you will get error messages like "twain source not found" or "cannot communicate with scanner". You can uninstall and reinstall the drivers to no effect.

  • Summary: A great scanner I bought this for two reasons one I like Canon I use two Canon Digital cameras and have found the color and quality very good. This was a very easy scanner to set up and use I scanned about 300 old photos and the scanner did a nice job of lighting and correcting some problems photos from the late 70's that had gone yellow and mean very yellow came out great.
