Summary: Having chosen the Canoscan 8000F and the Epson 2400 as my short list, I finally selected the Canon. Why? In the shop (Australia) both machines were on display - the Epson seemed very flimsy compared to the Canon - the lid of the Epson came away in my hand! I have a flat-screen iMac.
Bought this for $10 at my local thrift store in perfect condition

Summary: This is a superb scanner! For it's age, it holds its premium qualities very well. Unfortunately, Canon no longer update the drivers for this scanner, so any newer versions of Windows that succeeds Windows 7 32bit WILL NOT support this scanner.
Summary: ...my previous Visioneer scanner, which was a complete waste. I love the batch negative scan feature, which works well, and all around I'm happy, after fighting with my vintage 1999 box to get everything up and running with the USB2 card I had to install. Thanks newegg

Summary: I upgraded from my older HP scanner and wasnt disappointed. Its fast and awesome with any type of media. Newegg had it for so much less than other stores I upgraded to 2 day shipping and still paid less. You wont be disappointed.
Summary: Bought a refurbished 8000F and saved big bucks! Free shipping to boot! Been using it to restore and enlarge old heirloom photos..the software bundle is more than adequate! Great results! Thanks new egg for another job well done!
Summary: Ordered this scanner to compliment my Canon printer, and love both! I couldn't get my old HP scanner to cooperate with WinXP on my new computer. (Ordered new driver and it still wouldn't work). This one is SO much more advanced, worked right out of the box, and Newegg.com made it a breeze to order.
Summary: I've purchased and returned this scanner on the fact that it sounded like a buzz saw breaking when the scan head elements (gears & belt drive mechanisms) retracts after scanning images. The scan quality is ok, but not really worth it current price. Trust me.... this scanner is not really ALL THAT
Summary: Just bought this scanner last week along with a Canon i960 my friends and family are amazed that this stuff is coming from my computer. Everyone thinks there from photo place when I scan and then print them. Included software is great and I've been able to get rid of dust, etc very easily.
