Summary: I would have given this 5 stars, but it lacks any OCR software. Also, for those of us who have used Cannon Scanners in the past, there was no indication that with OS Mavericks one uses MP Navigator software, rather than the CanoScan Toolbox, which has historically been utilized. It does, however, work quite effectively when one uses the correct software.
Summary: I actually bought this item for my Mother-in-law, who is not at all tech-savvy. The latest driver software was easy for me to find on the Canon web site and installed on the computer without difficulty. The scanner produces high-quality scans, from either photos or slides, using software that even non-tech people can follow just fine. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I don't have much experience actually using it.
Summary: I've had this scanner for some time. I worked great for XP, but when I bought a new computer, it was loaded with Win 7.. It just wouldn't work there. I downloaded the drivers at least six times, and tried to load it. I just won't work. Since I don't have XP any longer, I have have a huge paper weight or door stop!
Summary: I've had no problems with this scanner, worked perfectly under both Windows XP and Windows 7. When I upgraded to Win 7, the software loaded up with no problems at all. Excellent scans for both documents and photos. A more economical version of the 9000f.
Summary: This scanner works fine with Windows XP but will not work with Windows 7 (64 bit). Even after downloading and installing the latest drivers and software from Cannon, it still wont work. Thank goodness I have a dual boot system with Windows XP (32 bit) as my second OS. Works fine there.
