Really really good scanner

Xuan Zheng, Amazon
27 May 2012
  • Summary: First of all, I don't quite understand all the other 1&2 star rating, I meant, this is a document, picture scanner, and it does those jobs extremely well. Why complaining something about "oh, the slides are sooo dark and blurring", what do you expect from it? This is NOT a film scanner, of course it will scan slides dark and out of focus! I think 3000F is good enough to include such a *bonus* film scanning feature that most scanners in its price range lacks.

Great little scanner! Issues with WIA and auto-crop

despacio_voi, Ebay

  • Summary: I bought this scanner based on the price ($30 with shipping), the size and the excellent scanning resolution of 1200 x 2400. As far as size is concerned, the unit is small for what it is. It's not a slimline scanner like the Canon LiDE series but is not boxy, overly thick or cumbersome. Kudos for design. The 3 scanner buttons (Scan, Copy & Email) are highly customizable with the minor addition of the Canon CanoScan Toolbox software.

Not Bad. A decent document/picture scanner

latsyrhc, Ebay

  • Summary: When scanning photos this scanner is everything I require. The scanning software is easy to use with a good range of options. However, when it comes to scanning slides it is most disappointing as they always come out dark. To compensate I try tweaking the brightness and contrast settings in the software but the colors in the dark areas are never true.

Works for just a little while

Joseph E. Haas "Joel Haas", Amazon
8 January 2007
  • Summary: I bought two canoscans 3000f The troubleshooting manual was worthless -- and you'll need it not long after purchasing the canon 3000f. WHEN you find support downloads on the Canon site, you can install and uninstall all day and the scanner still won't work. In fairness, it's a cheap scanner and Canon treats you as poorly as any of the other makers I've tried in the past, HP, Epson, and Umax.

Plenty of bells & whisles, but poor image scanning

Jason Woodward, Amazon
16 June 2003
  • Summary: I've always been a big fan of Canon's scanners, but the Canoscan 3000f really let me down. I've been using the Canoscan n1240u and have always liked the great colors and vivid scans. I decided to upgrade to the new 3000f, manily because it will scan negatives and slides. Unfortunately, the reproduction quality on these types of scans are not very good.

Love my Canon CanoScan 3000F Scanner

Joseph E. Haas "Joel Haas", Amazon
4 May 2003
  • Summary: I recently purchased the Canon CanoScan 3000F Scanner & not only did it arrive a lot faster then expected, but it works really well. I am really enjoying it. I am glad I bought this one. It's not to expesive, yet it has what I wanted & then some. The 5000F Scanner had a little to much for what I needed it for & the cheaper scanners didn't have some of the programs I needed. I would recommend this for people who wants a scanner for just home used.

excellent scanner

Alwyn Lim, Amazon
22 April 2003
  • Summary: I recently purchased the Canon CanoScan 3000F and have been very pleased with how it has performed. It was very easy to install. Just stick the CD in and follow the prompts (my Grandfather installed it and he has trouble composing email via hotmail!). Some of the great features include being able to scan your negatives. That's right, even if you have ruined your photo, you can still scan the negative and have a crystal clear image on your PC.
