Summary: I would never recommend this scanner. It is a nightmare to use it. Compact? So what? Not having one (at all) gives you even more space while free. Scanning? You can scan with this one pretty much what you could scan with "no scanner at all". You can spend days to calibrate it, but you'll not be able to align the papers when scanning. I scanned about 100 pages during a year of use. Each page was scanned 3-5 times in order to get it somehow readable.
Summary: The unit stopped working exactly one year after we bought it. It is no longer detected by the computer. We changed the cable, at no avail. We called customer service, at no avail. We will thus have to pay for the repair or buy a new unit. A little expensive for the performance...
Summary: Worked great before the update. With Mavericks the light won't even turn on. Mavericks has been out for months now, and was announced several months before that, and there's still no driver. Fortunately, I run Windows XP in Parallels, so it's not completely useless. In fact, that's the only thing I use Parallels for. But if you're a mac user without a virtual OS running as well, look for another scanner. It's a shame too, it was a great scanner.
Summary: Don't be fooled by light weight, duplex scanning, high-speed scanning, and both pc and mac compatibility. After using this scanner for less than a month, the device stopped working on its own. It doesn't matter whether you handle it with care as I did. I believe the manufacturing was faulty to begin with. Greatly disappointed by this Brother product! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Summary: I purchased this scanner (Brother DSmobile 700D). From the first day it is giving trouble...The problem is the first page to start scan..I have to try 4/5 times to scan the first page then it is ok..But the first page is a pain....If I would known..I would NEVER purchase this... I need to scan a very important 9 page document that have a deadline..But stuck...have to drive to FexEx store to scan.....
Summary: I was looking for a document scanner for household use. This one had all the features I wanted, duplex, compact. So, I bought it. I was so disappointed by it's performance that I decided to return it the next day! Pros: 1. Lightweight, compact. 2. Installs easy Cons: 1. If you are feeding documents, there will be a black leading area at the top of the scan. Because it starts capturing the image even before the paper is into the scanning area.
Broken on arrival--Brother customer service is worthless

Summary: OK, so I hate Amazon reviewers who write reviews that focus on something other than the item, but since the scanner hasn't worked yet, I think that deserves one star by itself. If it ever gets replaced, I'll adjust my stars accordingly. My one-star saga: I got this scanner last week. Took it out of the box at work, but didn't have time to start playing with it before going home for the day. The cleaning staff threw away my box...
Summary: Have been 3 hours tonight trying to make my first scan on MAC...have absolutely given up. Have installed drivers a dozen times and done full installations and MAC won't recognize scanner connected. Haven't tried with Windows yet, wait tip tomorrow, i'm ready to toss it in the trash, or take back to store in the morning. I hope the review for Windows are correct but I have been hoping to move completely to my mac but have 1000s of pictures to scan.
