Summary: I don't like using this. It might be true of other compact scanners, since I've only used this one, but I dislike how hard it is to line it up so that it feeds straight. As a result, it's always crooked so you always end up with dark strips at the top and sides of each scan. The dark space at the top is typically a quarter of an inch thick unless you line it up perfectly, which is impossible.
Summary: I would never recommend this scanner. It is a nightmare to use it. Compact? So what? Not having one (at all) gives you even more space while free. Scanning? You can scan with this one pretty much what you could scan with "no scanner at all". You can spend days to calibrate it, but you'll not be able to align the papers when scanning. I scanned about 100 pages during a year of use. Each page was scanned 3-5 times in order to get it somehow readable.
Summary: The unit stopped working exactly one year after we bought it. It is no longer detected by the computer. We changed the cable, at no avail. We called customer service, at no avail. We will thus have to pay for the repair or buy a new unit. A little expensive for the performance...
Summary: I bought this to replace my large flip top scanner that takes up too much space. This was simple to connect, simple to use and small enough to take with lap top when traveling. This item is small enough to keep on desk near lap top and very convenient to use.
Summary: First off, let me say that this scanner will do basically everything you expect it to. It will scan documents or business cards, and has duplex capability for two-sided scanning. It can scan in B&W, color, or grayscale, and has variable resolution settings so you can work with it to get your scan just right. Overall, this item is virtually identical to the DocketPort line of scanners.
Summary: If you really need a scanner that you will use regularly, and one that give a good quality scan, you may want to rethink this purchase. We use our Brother all in one printer to do our scans instead as this unit didn't not provide us with the time saving benefits and quality we had hoped. Yes it is portable but has been sitting in a drawer since the newness wore off.
Scanning time is slow, 2sided scanning a real plus.

Summary: I was in need of a replacement for my Vissioneer portable scanner, (no driver support past Vista, will never buy Vissioneer scanner again). This Brother scanner is slower than what I wanted but TWO SIDES SCANNING, made it worth it and a time saver. I have MFC printer I that solid and reliable and so this portable unit has been working perfectly. Has own carring case and USB powered.
Summary: Don't be fooled by light weight, duplex scanning, high-speed scanning, and both pc and mac compatibility. After using this scanner for less than a month, the device stopped working on its own. It doesn't matter whether you handle it with care as I did. I believe the manufacturing was faulty to begin with. Greatly disappointed by this Brother product! Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Summary: I purchased this scanner (Brother DSmobile 700D). From the first day it is giving trouble...The problem is the first page to start scan..I have to try 4/5 times to scan the first page then it is ok..But the first page is a pain....If I would known..I would NEVER purchase this... I need to scan a very important 9 page document that have a deadline..But stuck...have to drive to FexEx store to scan.....
