Summary: I have a lot of slides & film strips so I was looking forward to the arrival of this item. When it arrived I immediately downloaded the accompanying cd. There is a learning curve to correctly adjust contrast, color, brightness etc. Some of the film strips transferred a little darker but I am sure that with a little practice I will master this. One thing that does disturb me is when you boot up the computer it looks for the scanner.
Summary: Also you can forget about installing the Mac drivers if you're running Mountain Lion.
Pros: The software is kind of goofy but simple enough to use. Install drivers; connect EZScan; run EZScan; press button on scanner.
Cons: Interior lamp is too bright, resulting in a washed-out tone in photos that no contrast, brightness, or gamma settings can fix. Also a little fuzzy. I'm pretty sure that contrast, brightness, and gamma are all done in software anyway.
