Summary: There is a reason people buy Stihl over other brands. Took 4 pulls to get it started out of the box, but after that started on the first pull. Handled a 16" cedar with no problem. Love this little saw.
Summary: Nice saw, works great. Does everything I needed it to do. Although, as I found out later, you can get one at a Stihl dealer for cheaper. Also, you don't get a warranty unless you purchase it from a Stihl dealer..
Summary: Saw is under powered and the chain is mini which does not cut well. Bar has no grease ports at the sprocket so who knows how long it will last. tightening nuts on the bar are an odd size and you can over torque them easy. Overall I expected more from a Stihl?
Summary: I bought this saw to cut trees down around my house! didn't know much about chain saws I really need a bigger saw! Didn't know this one was so little till after I got it looks can be decieving! But sthil makes a great saw. Guess I just have to pay attention next time knowledge is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary: I have two other Stihl saws so I didn't look at any other brand. In fact, I use Stihl exclusively for all of my outdoor power equipment with excellent results. This is an excellent saw and it cuts like a bigger saw than it is. Good weight to power ratio. It gets a lot of work done in a hurry. Highly recommended.
Summary: This particular saw was pictured with the TOOLLESS chain adjustment, which makes it far more user friendly than those similar saws that require the "scrench" to loosen the bar mounting bolts and then turn the tightener screw to the desired tightness, and then of course, tightening the bar mount bolts again. That feature runs an extra $30.00 or so if purchased as an "add on" with a new saw.
Summary: This is a nice light weight saw. It's not a power house by any means, but it does a nice job for small trees and limbing. It's a good quality saw from a trusted manufacture. It serves my needs.
Perfect for little jobs like a energiser bunny just wont stop .

Summary: I bought this chainsaw to clean up the trees in the back yard . I like the fact that it was very light and easy to use. There is nothing to dislike about it starts easy every time , perfect for around the home . Its not the best for large trees above 40 cm round . Yes would recomend and buy again . doesnt look like stopping anytime soon tho .
Excerpt: I find the ms170 saw to be The perfect light-weight saw. It out performs other light duty chainsaws that I have used. It`s perfect for thinning and pruning, storm clean-up. I`v even taken medium size trees down with it!!!
