Summary: This has been a great saw. As far as the 'quality' of the stock blade, I think most will buy expensive blades for Any of the saws out there. I use the stock blade for general construction. It is heavy, but that's what keeps it so solid.
Summary: I've owned over ten compound mitre saws. This round I was looking for a saw that clicked all the degree stops without wavering. This saw does click well at all stops. It also has a digital readout that will tell you where the saw is set. So far, after a couple of months of duty, it still is working fine. I also like the lights on both under sides of the saw. For guys with tiring eyes, this is a great feature.
Summary: I bought this saw as a replacement for an old (20+ years) Sears 10" radial arm saw that had seen considerable use and was rebuilt a couple of times. I have the new Milwaukee mounted on a Ridgid stand and have had absolutely no problems with the saw or stand. The angle calibrations are right on the mark, I have made test cuts and checked them with a Starrett machinist's protractor. The detents are spot on for both the angle and miter.
Summary: Where to start on how much this saw sucks. The big thing is right out of the box my angle read out is off. Works sometimes and others times not. I have to slide it around from one side to the other and back often many times for it to settle in to something that seems consistent with the manual indicators. I am told this can be fixed with calibration. The right fence does not slide. The lights are weak to the point I ask why bother. The cord is short.
Summary: As a finish carpenter with over 30 years experience and as a woodworking and furniture building professional, I am impressed with the quality of the Milwaukee 12" sliding compound miter saw. As a tool enthusiast, part of the fun is making your selection, getting it home and trying it out! The saw comes packed very well with styrofoam surrounding the saw completely. Right out of the box the saw is perfectly accurate.
Summary: We've used this saw for about 2 weeks now and have had a chance to become very familiar with it. The build quality is top-notch and it will power through anything you put in its path. The weight of the saw is a non-issue, despite what some of the reviewers have said. I've you've used a quality built 10 inch miter saw or SCMS in the past, then you won't notice much of a difference at all when toting around this 12 inch Milwaukee.
Summary: You would be Certifiable to buy this fine Saw for $649 from Amazon when you can get the very same saw at Home Depot on Sale for $299 !!! Yes...I did not stutter.... $299 at Home Depot..... or there are now hundreds of them posted on Craigsli*t by folks trying to make a quick buck!
Summary: I just thought I would let people know I purchased this saw yesterday (1/12/10) at home depot and paid 299.99 for it, it's not even signed for that amount but is an unavertised special. I haven't tried the saw yet.
