User Review

mkeno, toolbarn.com

  • Summary: ordered this kit and I am very pleased. I have used it on simple 1x4 to cutting sanded plywood and it cuts both like butter which far exceeded my expectaions of a cordless saw. I have a corded saw also that i still plan on using for heavier duty work but the added convenience of the cordless saw is worth every penny so far.

Just Right

B.O.B., amazon.com
2 February 2012
  • Summary: I like this circular saw - it's not too heavy and it does the job for me. I'm a left-handed older woman who does a lot of home repair. I only gave it 4 stars because it seems like there are only a couple of blades (fine and coarse) available in this size. I have both and the fine blade did a nice job of shortening some masonite doors for my closet. Someone else said that a disadvantage was that only left-handed people would like it - for me, that's great!

It is a great tool!

  • Summary: I bought this saw when I knew I had a lot of polycarbonate to cut for a job. It is a gem. It performed flawlessly and is lightweight and easy to use. The blade brake is fantastic and WELL worth the extra money. The reason for four stars instead of five is that although the 6.5" blade size is great for my purposes the local hardware store only stocks a couple blade options that size. Also, a saw like this chews through batteries pretty fast.

Cordless Convenience and LED Best Features

KC, amazon.com
2 December 2011
  • Summary: Great little cordless saw for small projects - unless you are cutting really big stuff, this saw should do the job well with no cord clutter. Not too heavy and easy to work with. The LED and brake are actually very nice features. The circular saws sold in the combo kits are generally the similar model BSS611Z, which is certainly cheaper, but does not have the angle cut, LED light, or brake feature. The brake alone is worth the extra $.

Just bought it!

  • Summary: I have only used this a couple of times but I will compare it with my Craftsman Professional from about 2004, also 18 volt (but 5 1/2 inch). I used the Craftsman for years, it was a gift when I was still in school. I used to to build a few fences, shelves and a couple of other projects over the years. It still works well but the batteries are shot and the charger died.

Excellent cordless saw

W. Nicholls, amazon.com
31 October 2011
  • Summary: I'll just quickly add my praise for an excellent product. After reading reviews I'm careful not to run the battery down too much. And I'd stick with using the high capacity cells with the saw - the run time is much better. The Makita saw cuts 3/4" exterior grade plywood sheets like butter. Yesterday, I cut wet, pressure-treated 2x6 boards for a 10' x 10' deck with just one stop to recharge the battery.

  • Summary: Worked great, seemed well built but somehow it destroyed two batteries, one fat, one slim, in under an hour. Now both won't charge. At least Amazon took it back, Thanks!

Perfection.

RyanWPowers, amazon.com

  • Summary: This product is perfect. Purchase this one as opposed to its cheaper sister. The added light and brake are worth the extra few bucks. This thing is amazing. Plywood, 2x4, doors, whatever. It chops right through it. I would fully recommend this to anyone.

Awesome

R. S., amazon.com
21 September 2011
  • Summary: This is an amazing tool. I thought my old NiCd version was great, but this version is awesome. Incredibly smooth and strong. Also, it shoots nearly all of dust through the exhaust shoot rather than through the bottom of the cut. I am extremely happy with this purchase. Makita is the best, by a long way.

great tool

teacher, amazon.com

  • Summary: My first job with this tool was a large deck. The run time was great. Very long even when cutting a lot of 2x4. I only wish I had had gotten it sooner.
