Summary: Good luck cutting anything square on this saw. It has plenty of levers, set screws and adjustments which offer nothing more than a waste your time and provide crude adjustment if that. Dust collector catches less than 10% of dust. The instruction manual is also horrible, tiny diagrams, translated (poorly) from another language making it even more frustrating when trying to square the bevel angle etc. Out of the box the fence tips were not flush.
Excerpt: Okay so I went in to my local store with the idea of just looking as I was interested in upgrading from my Jet. I was comparing this one against the bosch. The store manager came over and had a chat and after a few minutes it was sold! He said the back fences would be square straight out of the box... He was right! In fact if you want to be really picky it was 0.01 degree out, not bad considering its been shipped from overseas in a cardboard box.
Excerpt: First one was not to normal Makita standards. Sticky upper slide that would not budge unless you put all of your weight behind it and a blade that would work as a wobble saw. but Axminster was brilliant and collected and replaced. Even checked the second one before despatch! My impressions of the second are much better. Not sure if the Axminster boys set it up but it looks like it is all adjusted and good.
Excerpt: Only had the makita a week but first impressions are excellent. Had to adjust angles once out the box but this is a 5 min job really easy. I also got the adjustable wheeled stand, together they are a big old lump but the roller and stop are good and once set up for the day it's a great
