Excerpt: 01. shippingI ordered this from reconditionedsales.comPackaging was pretty normal, like the standard for this type of tool. Huge box to say the least. Ordered on a Friday and received the saw on a Tuesday morning with regular UPS shipping. 02. hardware listEverything was in the box. Box looked like it was new. This was however a reconditioned miter saw, but I could not tell it at all. 03. assemblingEasy, not much to do. 04.
Summary: The quality of the tool is well worth the slightly higher cost. The finish is excellent and all adjustments are easy to get to. The tilt lock is located on the rear of the saw and for some may be a little difficult to reach. The slide mechanism is smooth and the saw swing spring is strong enough to return the saw after cuts but not hard to compress at the start. The miter indexing system is quick, firm and precise and seems very consistant.
Pros: I looked at a number of miter saws and the Makita had the best balance & workmanship is excellent.
Cons: Fence could be taller but is adequate for 95% of my cutting needs
Summary: I've had this saw for a year and a half, use it constantly and have never had to adjust it for squareness or miter angle settings. It is easy to transport and setup for on site jobs, cuts wide and/or thick lumber easily and has nice safety features such as a rectracting blade guard and electric brake. This is a very smoot saw that lets you concentrate on your work, not the tool.
Pros: Cuts absolutely straight right out of the box, very smooth slide action, has an excellent design
Summary: I've just purchased this saw and i have had no complaints. I did my home work before buying this saw, i compared it to most major brands in it's class and to be honest there is no comparison. for example i liked the bosch unit but what turned me off of it was the remote location of the drive motor which adds several more components to the system and to me the less moving parts, the less can break.
Pros: Smooth accurate cuts, soft start is wonderful. very quite.
