Summary: Outstanding...This saw replaced my 10" Makita DSCMS which got to be too much of a pain to lug around anymore. This has surprising capacity sliding. It's lightweight so it's not an issue loading and unloading in my truck. I cut crown on the flat so I don't need the features of my bigger saw. Been using this for 5 months now (professionally) and I haven't had to pull my 10" out of storage once.
It's a great idea. The saw performed just as I expected ...

Summary: It's a great idea. The saw performed just as I expected a Makita Chop saw would, and that is excellent . The other manufacturers will follow and release mini chop saws with great cross cut ability, but to beat Makita they will have to come up with some thing quite special and operate with the ease and precision that Makita Chop-saws have always delivered . If any one does, I'll probably buy it.
Summary: Ive been using this saw doing hardwood floors. Its a great saw, very lightweight. The knobs that keep it from sliding are cheap though and so is the guard. The guard hangs up on itself making it unsmooth. Great idea, but much more cheaply made than its 10 inch big brother.
Summary: It's a bit early to give full review. Arrived today, made several cuts. Saw cuts very clean with plenty of power. Size is perfect and I'm impressed with frills-less design (had reviewed many saws in the yellow/black and blue/red family but color coordination is not indicative of quality)..replaced a 12" that in long run was too oversized for my needs. So far so good.
Summary: I do a lot of work building cabinets and pieces of furniture and this saw is perfect. It's easy to use, makes good clean accurate cuts, and has capacity to cut a twelve inch width. If I need to cut 4x4's and other large pieces, I still have my old 10 inch saw for that purpose.
Summary: This is a very expensive, but quality product. Size and weight is always a problem with portable saws. This saw addresses, size, weight, and quality. I highly recommend this tool for the right person.
Summary: I have read reviews that the saw binds when moved back and fourth because the bearings are substandard. I agree that there is some friction and more than you get from the Makita 10" or comparable saws but it is much less than the Hitachi. I went over to Berlands house of tools and noticed theirs does this as well. I decided to keep it because it cuts so well and is very portable.
