Summary: I am a professional carpenter and general contractor. I bought this to help install prefinished kitchen cabinets and crowns. I based my decision on the other reviews. I don't typically write reviews however this thing is great. I used this on a high end kitchen install and it was some of my best work to date. I used this sander a lot with a 40 grit belt on my scribs and crown copes. This quickly became on of my favorite tool.
Summary: Love this baby. Well constructed, solid, powerful, easy to use, great battery life - everything you need in a cordless jig saw and nothing you don't. I buy all Makita 18-volt tools so I can share batteries, and haven't been disappointed in any of them.
Summary: This a good quality product. It runs quietler than I expected, that I think is a result of strong materials and quality bearings. The only limitation is that Makita only supplies belts up to 240 grit. This is OK for general sanding, but I also need to use it for polishing, and the available grits will not work for that application. This is a good product at an affordable price point.
Summary: I bought this tool for use in a machine shop. We've used it on parts made from class 40 cast iron, but it's also worked well on hot-rolled plate and 52100 steel. Please keep in mind, we use this only for light finishing and edge deburring. It helped us to open up a keyway that had not been taken to the correct depth, too. It's definitely come in handy.
Summary: The shape of the body and handle, and the light that shines on the cut makes this more pleasant especially on the bigger woodworking projects. I have most of the Makita 18V LXT set of tools since they were first introduced, and none of them have broken yet. So I also recommend this Jig Saw because the product line is so durable.
Summary: Top quality makita cordless tool. Around the shop we've got a bunch of old heads who still like plugging everything in. Sure, some plug in tools are just plain better. You can take jigsaw off that list now. Even the old timers can't argue that one. Instead they borrow mine. Another great addition to my makita tool family. Very high quality. Super smooth. Just the right amount of heft to it.
Summary: I forgot how much this tool cost me when I bought it years ago, but I am so glad I did when I had the extra cash. As I recall I took a chance on this with no reviews. This tool rocks! I am a custom furniture maker and a big part of what I do is shaping. Beware though, this tool will remove a lot in a hurry and even that which you did not intend. That being said, this tool makes quick work of hogging away wood.
