Summary: This Makita Jig saw is the best I have ever owned. It has great power and superb control. Get rid of all those crappy D handel jigs and get a real one like this! Only wish it came with the edge guide.
Summary: This is a great saw that fits well in your hands. The addition of an LED light near the blade was brilliant, it can really help when trying to do precise cutting and your body hunched over the work blocks the direct light. I debated between this one and the Festool and my ultimate decision was based on two factors: 1) Price - about $70 cheaper than the Festool Jig Saw 2) LED - that little light is a big deal Most jig saws have the same limitations (e.g.
Summary: I didn't want to buy this jig saw...it wasn't on my short-list. The Bosch 1591 or the Festool PS300 were my first choices. I've had a couple of crappy jigsaws in the past and decided to step up. I mostly use the jigsaw for pattern making and decided I'd had enough of post-jigsaw OSS sanding. I borrowed a 4351 from a friend and was impressed with it's balance, weight and smoothness.
Summary: I just received Makita jig saw 4351FCT barrel grip and immediately try in on my deck (2x6 boards). Yes it powerful feels good in hand and most importantly doesn't vibrate excessively!! Cut is somewhat strait - not ideal as others were describing, and relatively quiet, that's good! On other side few flows; after 30 min of use the Allen wrench for tilt adjustment already failed out twice from storage place in the shoe!!
Summary: This Jig saw performs exactly as expected. I am in the process of replacing all of my entry level tools in my workshop with Makitas, and could not be more pleased. The old axiom that "You get what you pay for" is one that should always be remembered when buying power tools. Buy the highest quality ones that you can afford.
Summary: I had used the same Makita Jig Saw for 25 years. This new model has making the most difficult cuts, simple and accurate. Fits like a glove, I love the T-Shank Blades and the ease of change out. The LED Light and Saw Motor produces enough air to keep the cut line, clear and easy to follow. I couldn't be happier with this "State of the Art" power tool. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who works wood, novice or pro.
Summary: This is a really great jig saw. It cuts straight and smooth, and the LED task light is a great little feature that makes for a huge improvement in the ease of use. The saw feels substantial in your hand, but is also quite nimble when making tight corners or smooth curves. The cut is very smooth when the saw is in "0" straight cut mode and very quick and aggressive in the "III" mode.
Summary: Having owned Craftsman and DeWalt jig saws, this Makita Jig saw is by far the best of the three brands. Smooth cutting, helpful light (for us older woodworkers) and easy blade change. I have other Makita tools and have found their durability to be as high as even over priced German tools.
Summary: i am a professional woodworker. tools are very important to me and i've used most of them by many manufacturers. i was between this saw and the festool and i went with this one. it is a fraction of the price and performs great. the light is very helpful in getting a good cut in low light. balance is good, weight is good, blade change, etc.... basically the only reasonable alternative price-wise is the bosch, which i've used a lot, and i prefer this one hands down.
