Below expectations performance - you get what you pay for

Summary: This saw was recommended as a Best Buy by a well-established consumer magazine that I am a subscriber of. For a couple yrs now most products I've purchased (with highest ratings by the magazine) they have totally fell below my expectations. This saw is the very last testament to this. Needless to say, I will never buy anything again because of the magazine's recommendations - they don't test everything they say, they make many errors, they are biased.
Summary: I ordered the saw because I had planned a few projects around my home. I purchased the saw in June, while it was on sale, however, I did not use it until October. I was pleased that it had a bag attachment that would catch the sawdust and minimize clean up. I was so disappointed to discover that when I cut my first 2 x 4, the sawdust went everywhere but in the bag.
Summary: This machine is well made and light to carry. Being light, it needs to be securely fastened to a work surface when using. It is fastened to a piece of plywood and then clamped that to my work bench. The blade was replaced with a 70 tooth Hitachi blade and used it to cut molding angles. It was easy to set up and accurate right out of the box. So far I am very pleased with it. It replaced a Black and Decker model that broke and parts were no longer available.
Summary: A great tool and easy to use. I'd give it an overall rating of 5 except for the dust bag. As mentioned in other reviews it's just about worthless. It needs to be improved. But that doesn't take away from the performance.
Summary: In have seven Hitachi products and I am very happy with all of them. They have never let me down when I am working on any projects. They are powerful enough to do all my DIY projects. Some are battery operated tools and others are electric.
