awesome saw

woodworker, CPO

  • Excerpt: The best saw you can get! Like all Festool products you might question the price at first until you use one of their tools. I plan to replace all of my tools that die with a Festool product. As far as CPO goes, their great. My miter saw kicked the bucket on a Wednesday and I got my new saw on Saturday.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast Cutting Speed, Good Design, Great Blade, Long Run Time, Powerful, Safe

miter saw

bob, CPO

  • Excerpt: I use this saw in a fixed position in my home shop where I build furniture and cabinets as a hobby. By far and away the best miter saw I have ever used. Solid, durable, accurate. However, the dust collection is poor. I have several other Festool products and generally I am happy with their dust collection. Not so with this saw.

Better Than The Best

  • Excerpt: Accurate, very easy to use, did I mention accurate. If you are serious about your joinery, this miter saw is a must! Yes, compared to other miter saws it is expensive, but what price do you place on superb accuracy? The radial arm saw is gone!! Coupled with Festool 75 plunge saw, and a good table saw I am able to tackle any project. I primarily work with solid lumber, many different species for the one-of-a-kind pieces I design and build. Occasionally, I use sheet goods.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Design, Great Blade, Powerful, Safe

Solid, but is it worth the cost?

TuanNYC, CPO

  • Excerpt: Make no doubt, this is a very good compound miter saw, if not the best. There is only one real issue: Price. Is it worth [$], which is 1.5 to 3 times more expensive than other saws, and it accessories are also expensive. Can I get the same high capabilities in a saw less expensive: YES.But for those who buy Festool, craftsmanship is more important than "value".
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Design, Great Blade, Lightweight, Powerful, Safe, Small Footprint
  • Cons: Pricey poor value

No better in performance

Frugal Festoolie, CPO

  • Excerpt: I have used about 10 different types &/or styles of miter saws in my career and have never seen anything that parallels the KAPEX in refined precision. Wide set guide rails, easy to read scale with micro adjustability, and extremely lightweight (I don't know if the other review who cited his 10" 27lb Makita was referring to miter saw or a SLCM, but this thing ALMOST feels too light).
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Design, Great Blade, Powerful, Safe

Best 10

  • Excerpt: WE have our hands in all kinds of woodoworking. We use this saw for furniture, cabinets exterior and interior trim and any other woodworking apps we se fit. This saw challenges some of the 12" saws on the market. The most accurate saw I have ever used. This my 5th mitre saw. I have owned 2 makitas, dewalt, hitachi. The options such as fine bevel adjustment, angle finder and etc. are state of the art. I don't prefer lasers, but these lasers are the finest.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Design, Great Blade, Highly Accurate, Powerful, Safe

Capable Miter Saw

hilligpz, CPO

  • Excerpt: Having used this saw for 2 years now, I'm quite satisfied with it. The miterfast (angle measurer) has come in handy in many renovations when walls are not quite square. The lasers are wonderful and totally adjustable. The cutting capacity is almost 13" for 3/4" stock in such a small package. Haven't tried the saw with the 36mm hose due to the price, but the stock vac hose collects well enough.
  • Pros: Good Design, Great Blade, Powerful

Almost Twice As Heavy as My Makita

sjdehner, CPO
25 August 2011
  • Excerpt: I had a chance to try out this saw recently, which as great since I'd been considering one for my own work. After seeing it in person I changed my mind not because it performs poorly, quite the contrary; it's too heavy. To most contractors this probably seems odd since most mitre saws are typically over 50 pounds. However, I have a small Makita 10" that weighs in at a feathery 27 pounds and is a breeze to move when needed (which happens to be a lot in my case).
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good Design, Great Blade, Powerful, Safe
  • Cons: Too Heavy
