Excerpt: Nice compact size, very well thought out and a big plus is that it can do dados. Had to down size my shop when we moved from Floyd, VA to Ormond Beach, FL and started purchasing Festool to help with the down size and have been very happy with them.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast Cutting Speed, Good Design, Great Blade, Long Run Time, Powerful, Safe, Very Well Thought Out Saw, Well Thought Out Sliding
Excerpt: I purchased this with the mobile base and extensions. It's a very tidy package. It's easy to break down and transport. It's a lot quieter than I'd expected. Dust collection is more efficient than any other miter saw that I've used.
Summary: Sorry, but I just had to chime in. All the negative (or less than glowing) reviews here are virtually identical to my review of the Festool T 18+3 cordless drill: no big deal. For the cost of that drill, $635., my 7 year old 9v. Hilti and PC 12v.
Summary: If you are going to buy a Kapex you have done your homework and an Amazon review will now sway you away from a sale. That being said I have owned 2 miter saws, my first an old Makita 10" LS1011 that is probably 20 years old and I am still using today. I even framed and trimmed my house with it.
Summary: After using my Kapex for over a year, its hard for me to use any other SCMS saw for detail work. I have a DW718 I use on framing and decks and like it very much, but the Kapex is in an entirely different league.
Summary: Hellish kickback though, and has always sounded/felt like the armature has some sand in it, though as I understand it that is normal. As soon as you hear the motor start to slightly bog down, hang on tight, you're gonna be in for a ride.
Summary: Received this saw with a defective fence. Festool USA was no help what-so-ever. I spoke to three different people and got the same results. I have contacted Festool International in hopes that someone higher up in the support team might offer some assistance. Here is a copy of my correspondence.
Summary: This is a good saw, so this isn't written as a disgruntled owner. However there is some small things you should be aware of and frankly I'm surprised the German engineers didn't think of these. I received the saw via Amazon, it wasn't square out of the box.
Summary: Any time you have to buy special non standard parts for a tool tell me not to buy it. 30 mm arbor instead of the 5/8 inch for the blade. I was just about ready to buy this until I saw that. I have a nice selection of expensive blades and I dont feel the need to replace them just for the saw.
