Summary: This is a nice, powerful hand planer. It is a quality tool that has most of the features you would expect. The reason I only gave it four stars mainly relates to dust control, and as another reviewer pointed out, the position of the power cord. This tool produces prodigious amounts of shavings. Someone suggested using it outdoors. Unless you don't care what your yard looks like, or you have a compost heap that you plan on working near, that is not a practical suggestion.
From frame to finish for fine tuning rough framing as well as planing Mahogany doors

Summary: You don't want a dust bag because there is very little dust. Wood shavings yes but little dust. Today I filled a 20 gallon trash can with the shavings and I saw about a gallon of dust.I use this tool all the time. From frame to finish for fine tuning rough framing as well as planing Mahogany doors. A dust bag would and will clog in 3 passes and fill up in 1 minute for me. Plane outside if shavings scare you!
Summary: For planing good doors, etc., where a skill saw is just too much, you will be hard pressed to beat this planer. Very precise depth settings and very smooth results. It is more powerful that I expected and I would definitely buy it again. Use this outside on in a shop where you have sawdust management. It really creates a mound of chips in a hurry! Probably 25x faster than a hand planer with precise depth of cut.
