Summary: Had I known my only option was going to be to have exposed wiring running over the back exterior of my car, into the cabin of the car, then across the ceiling of my car and finally onto the dash of my car, I never would have purchased this.
Pros: Can't find any.
Cons: The install is ridiculous. Unless you have a tape deck, you end up with wires running across the interior and exterior of your car. Are you kidding
Summary: It may be somewhat unfair to rate this radio so low because of the poor service, but in my mind they go hand-in-hand. Shop.xmradio.com is the online store affiliated with www.xmradio.com. They frequently run specials, expecially with current XM customers, offering low prices on second XM subscriptions, etc. I can honestly say, that I have had the absolute worst customer service experience with this company.
Pros: Low price specials for current XM customers
Cons: Worst customer service I have ever experienced
Summary: a few days after purchasing my portable XM radio i payed for a one year subscription on-line, once the process was complete a screen popped up saying that anyone who owns the radio that i purchased and several other types should not use them for portable use because the battery is defective and will melt and burn the user. i found it very unprofessional of the company to wait until after they had my money to notify me.
Pros: haven't gotten a chance to use it yet.
Cons: battery no good, have to wait several weeks for a replacement
Summary: As a unit for the car or in the home, the XM2GO is great. I purchased mine for running(2GO) and for the car as an afterthought. It works great in the car. The sound and reception are great. The price for subscription is good. The attachments for the car are substandard, but not severely so. However, the unit is awful if you live in an area with trees or buildings. It has the dumbest antenna that you clip on to boost the signal.
Summary: I am on my 5th unit and each unit has failed in the exact same place, the head phone jack. It's a great system, but it is a real pain to go and get a replacement unit over and over and over again. I REALLY makes the experience very painful.. If you do decide on getting the unit BE SURE to buy an extended warrantee as the head phone jack will fail. I've purchased two different headphone ends just to make sure it's not my headphone pieces making the My FI stop working.
Pros: Everything you could ever want in a portable satellite radio for the most part.
Cons: The head phone jack is Extremely prone to failure and WILL inevitably fail early on in your usage of the unit if it is used daily.
Summary: About a year ago, I went to Best Buy and asked if there was a portable XM player. At the time they said no. So, when I heard about this product I was psyched!! But, to my dismay, this product is not exactly what I expected. The problem is the antenna required to receive the signal. I live in New Jersey. I couldn't get a signal unless I used one of the antennae provided with the unit. For inside use, an antenna with a 12 foot cable is provided. This is lame.
