Summary: Been using this for some time now and overall, not bad. Dust collection is quite good as is finish on the wood. The DeWalt discs last a long time too. Negatives; I wish I had bought a 2 handled machine. Watch out for the sanding discs wearing through as it will ruin the velcro hooks that hold them onto the base pad. The biggest fault is the switch. Quiet difficult to turn on and off - not a very positive click either way.
Excerpt: First time use. recommended by a friend. Good investment. It did what I was hoping it would do. For a beginner it did not take long to get the hang of it and complete the job. I would recommend it.
Pros: Comfortable Handles, Good Balance, Powerful, Sands Smoothly
Summary: I purchased a DeWalt D26453-GB 230V Random Orbit Sander. after the orbital sander i was using shattered its bearing and basically dropped to bits. (I was using it to sand down my boat ready for repainting) The DeWalt Sander was a revelation, Although it was a little dearer than mu previouse sander it was worth the extra. It was so much smoother in operation than the previous sander and seemed to do the work much faster. It was good to handle being slightly lighter.
Excerpt: Have had this sander for 2+ yrs (cpo recon purchased). Has held up great with typical Dewalt durability but has just never wowed me. Maybe my expectations were too high, but this was the go-to orbital for the carpenters I knew at the time. My main issue is that it just does not remove much material - I know this is subjective but I have used most of the better sanding discs on it and yes I understand "going through the grits" but again, I have been underwhelmed.
