Summary: The wrong items was received. I Ordered the ZyXEL P-600R-ELNK; they shipped a different #. Returning the item and getting credit was, however, no problem. I already own a ZyXEL P-600r-ELNK and have had no probems with it.
Summary: These are brilliant bits of kit, provided you know what to expect from them. I use these routers as PPPoA to PPPoE bridges in front of another (open source) firewall/router. I don't expect these devices to perform any NAT themselves, nor do I use any of their onboard services like firewall, DNS or DHCP. In essence, I want them to be as dumb as possible and pass the connection - unmolested - to the more powerful firewall/router sitting behind them.
Summary: Seems to work well once set up, and a cheaper alternative to an adsl modem combined router, when using separate access points. If i had read the below advice or the wizard was a bit more wizardy, i'd have given it 5 stars. I got this to replace the offered BT Business Hub, just for the modem side of things and then use Open Mesh Access points around our premises, i'm not a network engineer, so had a pain initially setting up.
Summary: I am using this modem now for 3 weeks on a BeThere / O2 ADSL2+ line in the UK with no significant problems. Happy about the bridge or router feature and choice, good sync speed, not too bad web interface. The only reasons it is 4 stars and not 5 are below: - Major desync of documentation: The manual provided describes much advanced configuration and options on the telnet interface and through the command line as well as better firewall.
Summary: I took a punt on Amazon having fixed the issue with the foreign plugs, and bought two of these to replace a lightning damaged similar model. Fast delivery, correct plug for the UK. Happy with the kit as I rebought.
Summary: I'm afraid my experience was similar to J. Armstrong. Unit supplied with a European PSU and a French manual. At least Amazon processed my return efficiently. Ended up buying from kikatek who supplied a UK PSU and an English manual.
Modem is Fine, Power supply is not suitable for UK
J. Armstrong, Amazon
13 July 2010
Summary: The modem is just fine - but it is NOT supplied with a UK suitable power supply. The power supply fits a shaver type socket (two round prongs) but the prongs are slightly smaller than usual, so if you try to use a shaver/UK adapter the power supply keeps falling out, which significantly slows down your internet access. If anyone knows the alternate product that has a UK power supply, please leave a comment.
