High speed plug-and-play, great alternative to WiFi extender
2 weeks ago
Summary: I am very happy with this purchase and it was very simple to setup. After getting a new TV installed in my house, my ISP/Cable company had moved my WiFi router, which was causing signal issues in many part of the house which had previously gotten great reception. I have FIOS 50/50 Mbps internet and had always gotten very fast speeds (usually at least 30 Mbps depending where in the house I was).
Didn't know what to expect, but very happy with these!

Summary: I build a media center PC which is attached to my TV, but unfortunately I had no Ethernet jack near my TV. After considering buying a wireless card, I decided to try these wall adapters out since they would provide me with greater speeds. I have one end plugged into my PC, and other end plugged into a gigabit switch. After using them for about a year, I have been very happy with their performance. Speeds are great and perhaps my favorite feature is the pass through plug.
Summary: Powerline is a much better solution for extending your network to fixed (i.e. non-mobile) devices than is wifi. Sure, wifi is great for your phone, tablet and laptop, but not so much for your DVR, BluRay, game console or connected TV. Those devices need lots of bandwidth for video streaming, which will a) buffer and b) bog down the wifi for everyone else. Instead, pick up this handy two-pack of powerline adapters.
Summary: Just a very poorly designed product. Obvious that the engineers never looked at a standard duplex outlet in any US home. This conveniently blocks the 2nd outlet, so while it extends one, it takes up 2. Competitive products seemed to have taken this into consideration. While I usually like Zyxel products, this was not a wise purchase for us.
Summary: The item sounds amazing at first, plugs into your electrical outlet and creates a ethernet channel! Then reality hits and you realize that each additional electrical outlet along the same path lowers your mbps to your router. I could never get the powerline adapters to flash green for the full 500mbps (upstairs computer downstairs router). I would have been okay with decent speeds 40-100 mbps as my ISP will most likely always be the choke point.
Great product and alternative to poor quality wireless

Summary: Great product. I bought these because of a weak wireless signal in my office at home. Looking for an easy alternative. Easy to setup following directions from other users here on Amazon. Instructions that came with the adapters are junk. Plugged one adapter into the wall near the modem and plugged the ethernet cord into it. Waited a few moments and then plugged the other adapter into an outlet in my office. All green lights.
Great throughput, just like having a cat 5 cable ...

Summary: Just got these, bought two sets. The first two (unit by modem, second devise) were total plug and play. Great throughput, just like having a cat 5 cable attached to my modem and device! Tried adding additional units but hit snag, instructions NOT helpful. Called tech support and they walked me through activating additional units (you have to hit encrypt button of unit at modem, then hit encrypt button of additional unit.
Summary: Upon arrival these units were dead. They would link up and recognize each other, however, no signal would pass through. Spoke to customer support and they suggested replacing the items. i did with a better working unit from TrendNet. These units arrived and worked perfectly right out of the box.
