They're nice at first, but break down

Pekka J. Taipale, Amazon
7 December 2009
  • Summary: I have had now two of Prestige 660HW boxes. Problem: they break down in months. The first one worked for over a year, but started to lose performance. Upstream effective bitrate dropped down to something like 5 kbit/s and was unreliable. I thought my ASDL provider had problems, but it turned out that the P660HW was losing more and more packets.

A word of warning if you're setting up a home network.

Amazon Customer, Amazon
13 October 2008
  • Summary: Generally I have found this product to be excellent and I would recommend it. It is easy to setup and use, it supports modern high encryption and I have not had a single fault. I have one negative thing, however, to warn you about. I have found that when my broadband connection is down, the router won't assign IP addresses by DHCP until the internet connection is back up. This means the entire wireless network is cripled.

  • Summary: Well this review is done now after 14 months ownership of my Zyxel 660 router, prior to buying this router i tried a Netgear and D-link but couldn't get either of them to work on my PC, i'll put my hands up and say i'm no computer geek so find all matter internet and computing very frustrating but buying the Zyxel from Amazon i had it the next day, wired it all up using networking LAN cables and had it working and online within 15 minutes...

  • Summary: i am using my Zyxel P660 through my laptops own wireless and found the instructions to do this difficult. basically u just need to have your wireless on, the box on and turn WZC onto automatic and press start by right clicking my computer - manage - services - scroll down to wireless zero configeration and double click to get to the settings.

Avoid for use with PS3

R - With More Particle Effects!, Amazon
21 December 2007
  • Summary: What a difference a year makes - from Dec '07, to Nov '08. Quite simply avoid this router (Zyxel P660HW T1 v2) for use with the PS3! The port forwarding does not work (at least on my router) - and I had the very latest firmware. I must have spent countless hours trying to fix/sort out my PS3 online gaming problems with this router - some games wouldn't work, others would.

Easy setup. Excellent performance.

A. Walters, Amazon
24 October 2007
  • Summary: This product is accompanied by two CDs, which contain the necessary drivers and also excellent instructions, in the form of an on-screen animation, to guide you through setting up. This makes it extremely simple for even the most inexperienced user. I have never seen a better set of instructions for a computer product.

Excellent Support

Book Dude, Amazon
25 September 2007
  • Summary: As the other reviewers attest, this is an excellent product. But I also want to add that their support desk is superb. I had a problem with what turned out to be an obscure wireless setting, but the support guy (who was actually British) patiently took me through every possible solution, finally offering to replace the modem if we could not resolve the issue.

Easiest Installation Ever !!

Howard Charter "Aitch", Amazon
5 June 2007
  • Summary: Having got fed up with my Linksys WAG54G router continually failing to reconnect to the internet, I decided to buy this one from ZyXEL (special offer from Amazon clinched the deal!). It was one of the best decisions I have made. Installation was extremely easy (less than 5 minutes, including setting up a secure network, and no need for any of the installation CDs), and it seems a lot faster than my old Linksys router. Thoroughly recommend it.

Not a Big Name?

GAZar, Amazon
18 March 2007
  • Summary: A few months back I had never heard of ZyXEL, we decided that we needed ourselves some wireless internet access that was above all reliable. I must say I was a little cynical about purchasing a router from a company I had never used in the past and had little knowledge about - but now without a shadow of a doubt, I am fully satisfied with my purchase.

Simple and easy

Richard Kelly, Amazon
17 January 2007
  • Summary: I use and configure all sorts of routers and firewalls within my job in IT and I always approach consumer boxes, such as this, with some trepidation. Fortunately I need not have worried, the spec is good, the menus are good, the options are good and the web based console give you access to all the salient settings menus. It took me about 3 minutes to set this little box up, and it works a treat.
