Summary: This item sucks big time... I am heading right now to buy a netGear router instead. Configuration is pretty simple but like another reviewer said... is lacking firewall advanced settings only I/O. The big problem with this piece of useless trash... is that keeps disconnecting most of the time doesn't even last a minute or 2... I have to keep changing frequencies to try to avoid overlapping networks... and even though the router keeps failing...
Summary: I bought this router through Mediacom cable internet provider, they were offering a 100% rebate when I subscribed to them for internet, 8-12 weeks for your rebate check to arrive back. I sent in the upc, and form in July 2012, I finally got my check in March 2013. When I tried to set this router up, it had very poor directions, no customer support that knew anything.
Summary: Works only within its range of 20 feet, which means it is pretty much useless as a wireless router. I've attached it multiple places in the house, with same results. Sent email multiple times to tech support, which totally ignores it. Got it "free" with Time-Warner - that's if they actually honor the rebate. Shipping was $15 and is not rebated, so it was a waste of time and $15.
Summary: ...compelled to save you from buying this product. Do not go anywhere near this thing. I rarely, hardly ever write a review unless it's so damn good I must or it's so damn terrible I should...unfortunately zyxel nbg-416n you fall under the latter category. Simple to set up is the only star you get. When you do work (10% of the time) the service is pretty good. But you don't work so let's not even talk about that.
