Summary: this is NOT a PoE switch. It has PoE lights for each port, but it powers no PoE device that I am aware of. The first unit that was shipped sounded like a bunch of rocks lose in it. sent it back and now I find no PoE. JUNK. stay away. I may be stuck with it because I threw the box out. Going to try returning it anyway.
Summary: Needed this for configuring IP phones, no more no less. Four of the eight ports (5 thru 8) were dead, one other (4) was intermittent. Only by applying slight pressure to the patch cord would any connection be established in port 4. I'm going to return it for exchange. UPDATE 10/23/14: Received the replacement switch and all ports are working properly, providing data and power. It's been up and running for a couple of weeks without any issues.
This produce works great, it powers all 8 ports with 802
3 July 2014
Summary: This produce works great, it powers all 8 ports with 802.3at class 3 PoE+ ports (30W) with 240W max power budget. This is the only 8 port switch that i could find that does this. This is also the lowest cost that i could find that offers this capability. It would be nice if it they offered a basic managed (web GUI) version however, I'm not complaining.
Summary: I have search hard for a reasonably priced POE switch that was fool proof for business applications. I use these switches for remote offices where users start unplugging things when something doesnt work. Most budget switches only provide POE on half of the ports and / or only low voltage on the ports. This switch has proven reliable to power IP conference Phones, and High power webcams...with no worries as to which port the end user plugs into.
Summary: It smply works. yes it is loud but it is after a 240 watts unit.It will deliver all day long 30 watts (!!!!) per port at Gigabit speed. So it needs cooling and that is what the fan is for . Yest, it is not managed, but you will be hard pressed to find even many Fast Ethernet PoE + switch at that price and with that level of reliability.
Summary: Good switch and functions as advertised. Be aware that this thing is LOUD. I had to move it out of my office which wasn't a problem for me. I use this exclusively for security cameras for which it works well.
Summary: I was looking for a future proof switch that supported POE+. Unfortunately, one of the Trendnet ones I purchased, while it boasted POE+, out of 4 POE ports, only 2 were POE+. This switch TRULY does have POE+ on all 8 ports for a maximum power of 240 watts. After I plugged in this device, I tested ALL 8 ports with POE cameras. Every single port functions as promised.
