Summary: Easy to clean, metal and rugged construction, affordable, does the job well. I have had a few lose a port many one out of 10 switches will have a port fail in the first week of use. The rest of the ports are always fine, and the switches that this doesn't happen to, always are good to go for the long-term.
Summary: I ran out of ports on the switch feeding my entertainment centre (no, I do NOT use WiFi for data-intensive streaming!) so I looked for an 8-port switch. I've had two TP Link 5 port switches in the past, and they were excellent. I decided to try ZyXEL because of a good experience with a cheap WiFi router I purchased for my in-laws. This switch is well constructed, runs cool, and does its job.
Summary: I bought this because my network using TRENDnet TEG-S80g seemed to be having issues with Windows 7 Home for some inexplicable reason when trying to find out what was impeding bandwidth beyond my cable modem. Anyway I bought this ZyXEL GS108B based purely on my experience with another ZyXEL product the 16 port GS-1100-16.
Summary: Never have any issues with it--just runs and runs. It is a little heaver than the plastic switch it replaced so the wires don't try to flip it every which way. Doesn't overheat even with high traffic loads. Power draw is quite low. It is about as compact as you could reasonably get. Quality product.
Summary: I bought two of these to replace some older switches. They seem to be working great. Low heat production. Attractive design. I haven't had any network issues since buying these. Great switch! I had never heard of the ZyXEL brand before buying these switches. I think it was the positive reviews on Amazon that made me give them a try. I'm glad I did.
