Summary: I have owned this router for about a year now and I am kicking myself for not going with a more established brand. Let me tell my story. I bought this router for its AC mode so I could get a strong connection upstairs while the modem was located downstairs in the living room. For the first day or so it worked great. I saw my download speed jump from about 500kb to 25mb/s. The next week started the first set of problems. The AC signal would cut on and off constantly.
Summary: Quality There are reasons why this and many trendnet routing products are on sale as lightning and gold box deals on amazon. Its because they are TERRIBLE, and are made cheapl. You look at the size of this router and think oh its so big it must have beefy hardware, no its a big box of air mainly to cool the poor little thing that will and does over heat under heavy load.
Excerpt: I've tried the TrendNet router with two different new cable modems on Bright House. Even with all new wiring, the wifi signal has gone out again and again. Since it was still under warranty, I sent it back to TrendNet, which chose to replace it with a new one. But the new one had the same problem out of the box. I've worked with a TrendNet technician for 2 months, but to date, the problem continues.
Summary: won't work-have tried several times to get it working and have failed every time-I bought this because it was the highest rated, would have been fine if it worked-now, after all my struggling to get it working the time to send it back has expired-guess I'm stuck with a $120.00 book end-buyer, beware-was going to replace my Linksys 1500 with this, good thing I kept it
Summary: I bought this router because I have both a new iMac and a new Sager laptop that support the new 802.11ac band and also because my home Comcast SMCD3GNV only has 2.4GHz and that spectrum is extremely crowded here (38 networks last that I checked and most of them are using Comcast's SMC gateway as well which only supports three channels so there is a lot of wireless interference). Well I figured that this would be a decent product. Its not.
Does NOT work, Horrible Customer Service DO NOT BUY!
13 January 2014
Summary: I purchased this unit in June 2013. The unit worked until November 2013 after many technical support exchanges and customer service exchanges and even a defective replacement unit I am in the same place months later. DO NOT buy this or any other TRENDnet product. I would give this zero stars if it were an option for these reasons.
Summary: I purchased it and read through the instructions easy enough right? Wrong i had several disconnects on all my devices they kept dropping the internet. The wifi signal was there and it wouldn't transmit/receive at all. I tried for about 3 hrs having different levels of success. I gave up and went back to my trusty dlink 615 and now im returning it. I want my afternoon and life back. Tested with rokus 2 and 3, 2x s4's, dell xps, and pc. just crap.
Summary: Unfortunately, there is no "zero star" rating, so I have to give it one star. I've had this router running for two months, with a fairly generic configuration, pretty much out-of-the-box, and it locks up a few times a day, with increasing frequency (it locked up 10 times today). The only way to get it to start routing traffic again is to reboot it, then will lock up again after a few hours. Working with Trendnet customer service is a complete circus.
