Shoddy Hardware

Jonkliner, CNET
26 March 2015
  • Summary: I didn't have the same speed issues that Starhanger had, but I had a lot of connectivity problems from the get-go. I had to restart the router every 4 or 5 days.
  • Pros: Good user interface for online setup
  • Cons: Reliability

Believe the neg reviews, wish I did

Eric F., Newegg
17 March 2015
  • Summary: I really wanted to like this router, I researched it on many review sites, read user reviews here on newegg and other sites. I figured it was hit or miss, it would work as designed or not. Well it doesn't work.
  • Pros: price was right for an AC 1750 router, has gigabit ports and open source support.
  • Cons: Con 1: will not standup with all ethernet ports filled, it topples over potentially reducing coverage. Con 2: the router software is weak, no built-in link to its support site or where the firmware is, have to go searching the website. Con 3: even after the latest firmware update the internal set...

Won't allow a LAN; worthless support

Kevin O., Newegg
15 February 2015
  • Summary: When using a network switch plugged into one port on the router, all wired clients on my LAN can communicate over any protocol. When I remove the switch and use the switched LAN ports on the back of the router, none of the Ethernet clients can communicate with each other using common protocols.
  • Pros: + 1300 AC + 2.4GHz + 5GHz support with multiple SSIDs for each + Guest network support + DD-WRT support (if you want to void your warranty)
  • Cons: - Does not allow more than ping between wired LAN clients (no HTTP, no SMB/CIFS, no AFP). Only wifi LAN clients can connect to wired LAN clients. You must use a separate switch for wired LAN connections. - Throughput is better with 802.11n on 2.4GHz than either 11n or 11ac on 5GHz, even when usin...

Avoid Like Ebola

Samuel S., Newegg
3 February 2015
  • Summary: I've used TRENDnet products for sometime, having exceptional luck with previous. However, that run of luck and quality of service has ended. My background includes Cisco Router programming (along the lines of a CCNA if I decided to take the tests) and I have various high end routers and other...
  • Pros: It turns on.
  • Cons: Garbage router. Nothing but problems. This is the second one, a Vers. 2 that was replaced under warranty--and worse than the original Vers. 1. I originally purchased a "version 1" router that never worked properly within the configuration parameters (I argued with the device for over a year, some...

Easily worst router ever.

Eric W., Newegg
15 January 2015
  • Summary: How is there no consumer protection against spending $100 on an empty box? Trendnet, you guys are crooks. I have read through more than 25 posts just like mine on that other online store and here on Newegg.
  • Pros: I can't think of any at all
  • Cons: *Have to reboot device every 3 hours. *Device drops signal if put under heavy load *I tried the open source OS and even underclocked the cpu since it was getting super hot. Made it worse. *Drops packets when you are 5 feet away with full signal. *No "best settings" anywhere to be found *No dlna s...

aplying for return now

David A., Newegg
20 December 2014
  • Pros: inexpensive
  • Cons: I just spent an hour trying to get thru the menu structure and update the firmware in an attempt to get some stability out of the web interface. Half the time I go to a new menu or try to make a change in the settings I get dumped out back to the login screen. That is on the off chance I actually...

Piece of junk

Anonymous, Newegg
19 December 2014
  • Pros: Cheap.
  • Cons: A piece of junk. Discontinued model. Reset button stuck inside. I can't change default settings either through router or through inaccessible management panel URLs. Manufacturer's support is non-existent. Total waste of time and money.

Horrible router--constantly drops connection, just like others' experience

Audrey Nicole "Bookgroupie", Amazon
15 December 2014
  • Summary: This router seemed to be working for the first 35 days--just enough time for the return period to pass. Then...constantly dropping wi-fi. Every. Single. Day. After six calls to Trendnet in which we have updated the firmware, checked to make sure the wired connection was working (it was, just not...

Did not last--

Hilary H. Young, Amazon
12 December 2014
  • Summary: We purchased this router on May 30, 2014. It failed on December 11, 2014. Not only could we not get to the internet, we also could not connect to the network. After installing a firmware upgrade, resetting, and reconfiguring the router, we could connect to the network internally but still could not...

Drops internet constantly despite all updates - customer service sub par

kvd "Kim", Amazon
11 December 2014
  • Summary: Bought in April 2014 brand new. In November it began dropping internet constantly. After multiple conversations with tech support by email, (since I can't understand the accents of phone support staff) I have updated firmware, checked internet provider, attempted different channels, defaulted and...
