WISP mode very hit or miss. Mostly miss.

  • Summary: Does not reliably stay connected to the wifi WAN I have it connected to (and I can connect via every other device so I know it is not an issue with the connection). I need to restart this router daily because it does not have an IP address each time I get home.

We installed this at a client who was using her neighbor's WiFi

  • Summary: We are a small-office home-office IT shop. We installed this at a client who was using her neighbor's WiFi. We wanted to give her a wired network and more security. This unit acts as a router using the neighbor's WiFi as the ISP. Setup was easy and straightforward.

  • Summary: It's a steal at this price. I've paid way more for far less. Honestly didn't believe it would work as advertised until 5 min after I plugged it in. Got it for the WISP feature to use in the RV to provide some protection (along with 3rd party VPN) in campground WiFi and to simplify Chromecast use...

Ignore the quick setup and you will be fine

  • Summary: Device is sold as either a wireless repeater for picking up ISP (not internal) wireless signal or as a router. But if you put it in router mode but don't connect to the WAN port it will operate quite happily as a standard wired access point.

SIDNEY S. Review Refers to an ASUS Router, NOT THIS ONE

Daniel K., Newegg
6 June 2015
  • Pros: In the Review Above by SIDNEY S., he is referencing an ASUS router, NOT THIS ONE by TP-Link, I would probably ignore his review unless he simply quoted the wrong Brand in his review.

Bince, Amazon

  • Summary: Pros: Came with the latest firmware. Cons: None of the lan ports are working in Wisp Mode (I don't have a modem to test the plain router mode). Router stops transmitting after a few minutes of heavy use.

  • Summary: The router mostly works for me. However, it struggles to maintain connectivity when under "high" use. Whenever I download files at 5Mbps the connection regularly dies. Throttling connections to 4Mbps increases stability, but not 100%.
