Summary: Rather impressed with the router overall. First of all, it's a fantastic value for < $30. As of Dec 2014, there are available firmware options: OpenWRT Unstable DD-WRT (have to dig a bit for it) After applying both OpenWRT and DD-WRT, I finally went back to the original TP-Link firmware.
Summary: It is always hard to do upgrades when you have a working home network, but I wanted to move from WEP to WPA security on our wireless network. We have several devices that we've added recently that are set up to use WPA, but we did not have a router to support it.
Summary: The TP-Link WR842ND wireless router performs as advertised. It is inexpensive and functional. If you want greater speed and range, you need to pay more. Set-up is no more or less difficult than with other such devices.
Summary: After I had trouble with some of my devices connecting to my dual band router, I was happy to test this particular item to confirm it was a router problem. Sure enough, this was not only easy to set up, but the issues I was having disappeared. I was able to connect the other items seamlessly.
Summary: You can buy routers for 10x the price, and they're far from 10x the router this is. It's certainly not for everyone, but for someone who's ok with what their cable/dsl provider gives them or only uses Facebook/Pinterest/email/Words with Friends (I know many who'd fit in this group), this is great.

Summary: Good router with good range and good speed. I was able to set this u in a flash using the guided setup. However, I also tried to do a custom set up (e.g. bridge mode) and thats where it got all confusing to having to find the router and the MAC ID (gasp)...
Good, workmanlike router for a single use household

Summary: No one is going to be raving about the TP-Link router. No bells, no whistles, nothing fancy or new. But it does one thing simply, but it does it well: it'll get you online quickly if your needs are few. The router has a simple set up, and it's relatively easy to have functioning quickly.
Good little router apt or smaller house, lightweight and simple

Summary: This unit is fine for an apt ,but may be a stretch for a larger household.I tried this in my apt, which is not that big and it works quite well. It is light and easy to hook up,I just exchanged it with the unit I had which is a dual band-truthfully not a real difference from the other unit which is a...
Summary: I am pleased. This router is easy to set up and I was able to start using it immediately. We have a multi device household - 3 televisions, 5 phones, 2 tablets and 3 computers - and it handles the traffic reasonably well.
