Low Speed, Limited Range Are Trade Off for Low Cost
13 December 2014
Summary: This is the second TP-Link router I've tried, as they seemingly attempt to dominate the inexpensive router market. This wireless access point definitely fits the bill on the low cost side, offering home wireless quite cheaply. BUT, and it's a big "but," there are some significant tradeoffs you're making for that low price. First, this is an N-only router, not the newer, faster AC technology, that is becoming standard. Does this really matter?
Okay For The Price, But Not As Good As You Might Expect

Summary: Well, for the price you are paying for this router it really isn't a bad deal, but then again it isn't a great deal either. I found that the router itself was easy to hook up, but the software provided with it appeared to have quite a few bugs with it and once I got everything installed it didn't come anywhere near the smooth sailing down the information freeway that I expected. Instead I got a lot of speed bumps and even the occasional stop sign here and there.
Summary: By most standards, this is a pretty mediocre router, at least in terms of the specs. If you enjoy streaming Netflix on your TV while downloading music on your laptop and playing Words With Friends on your phone, all at a distance from your router location, you’ll want something with a stronger signal output and the availability of using the 5.0 GHz band. However!
Summary: It's still the older technology with the 2.4GHz, but I only needed something for a small space. Range is not super great especially when I'm out on the deck or patio but it does a decent job at keeping a signal.
Very good entry-level router for small home or apartment... range limited but setup is amazingly easy

Summary: This router has a lot of things going for it, but range (distance from your computer to the router) is NOT one of them. It's a great entry-level router for a smaller house or apartment, but I found that signal quality dropped off dramatically in our house once I was about 60 feet away from it in another room. On the plus side, it is EXTREMELY easy to set up.... I had it up and running in about 3 minutes with the enclosed software.
Summary: I love it when it works, but it has (too often, i think) just pooped out and when i call Charter to have them do their magic to reconnect, they never recognize the brand ... just adds one more complication to what is - to me - a completely mysterious techie universe.
Summary: I got this product through Amazon Vine and it had been on my "to review" pile for a couple of months. Then last week I returned from holiday to a dead network. I couldn't decide whether the problem was my existing WiFi router, my existing switch, or something in-between. Out came the TP-Link router, which was able to do both jobs together for the four most critical wired devices, and most of the wireless ones, and got us up and running. Set-up was very straightforward.
