TP Link

  • Summary: All the TP LINK 1008D does is pass signals on to the other devices. A router will actively direct the signals to the devices just to be clear on what a switch is, and is not. Plastic enclosure is newer for TP Link. Used to be metal, but they found a way to make it run cooler, so no issue with melted plastic. Runs much cooler than my Netgear switches. The TP Link needs to be restarted every couple of months with connectivity issues, but after that all is well.

  • Summary: I work at a government shop that has a10/100 network in place. I had two stations that were transmitting large, multiple gigabyte, files back and forth. I installed this switch on the network and connected the two station to it. It was no more than 5 minutes before the users were telling me how much smoother things were working. This is not a fancy switch with management capabilities.

  • Summary: Plug it, keep it and forget it. Silent 8 port router that is plug and play. It claims to save power but I could care less. For a my home setup 10-15 watts saving does not really matter.
