Summary: I bought five of these to use as access points for PLCs and other equipment. The goods are that it's cheap, easy to set up and use, has three different modes, has a battery (which lasts about 6-8 hours in AP mode), and is small and light.
Summary: I selected this travel router specifically because it could be loaded with DD-WRT. The flashing process was simple and setting it up to pick up a signal from an open hotspot and broadcast my own password protected AP was relatively painless.
Perfect for Travel or Mobile Office with UML290 4G Modem
16 January 2014
Summary: I received this 3G/4G router a few days ago....mainly to use on the road with my Verizon UML290 4G USB modem. First, updated the firmware. Second, tried a few things with UML290, but none worked.
Summary: I was just able to use this to watch Netflix over a Chromecast in a hotel room. It is fricking awesome and makes travel for work so much better. The only problem is figuring out you need to set it up in 3G/4G WAN only mode to make it work correctly in a hotel took forever to figure out.
Summary: This is a small quick to setup router that lets me use my Chromecast in hotel rooms without any issues. As long as it's a decent internet connection, this feeds it out and lets my laptop, tablet , phone and Chromecast connect while only having to sign in to the device connected to the router.
Summary: I needed a portable wi-fi for the cottage, where a USB cell modem is the only internet connection option. I chose this unit as it seemed very flexible - on the off season I can use it to connect a non-wi-fi enabled printer to my wireless network.
